Knicks · we have a great tandem in KP and melo (page 1)

I really like the depth we have added because it takes pressure off one or two guys. However i feel we have a great tandem at the forward position. Melo seems to have realized that moving the ball will help the team win. KP is just a beast. I admit i thought it might take 2 years to get comfortable but im happy i was wrong. Between both guys the opposing teams are gonna have a tough time with gameplans against us

The outlook and potential of this team is so much greater when Melo is you 1A-2nd best player. I think ultimately KP will be our clear cut #1, stat sheet stuffer, go to guy & EASTERN CONFERENCE ALLSTAR starting Center for years to come. Not having to rely on Melo every night is huge. Now you can ride Melo when he's hot and when he's off you need him to be more selective in his shot attempts and become more of a facilitator.

Once that happens consistently and KP consistently strings together games like last night which all #1's do th league better watch out! Knicks will be right up there with the top contenders. As Lebron ages we can rise to the top of the East and teams will fear coming into the Garden again. This is going to be an awesome ride.

Did not think it was ever going to happen after everything we endured under Dolan. I don't know if Phil's legacy can continue to grow any further than it already has but my goodness. 2 rings as a player, 11(!!!!) as a coach and a few as president WOW just WOW. I don't know if I contain myself with all this excitement

Has the need to be a facilitator when he is off, been communicated to Melo as he acknowledged the need to change his game? Or is this more wishful thinking? MElo is a KoME clone he isn't going to be a facilitator. He will jack up twenty shots a game whether he makes 12 of those or three. It's just great to have a new option to get points on the board and the PG will have to make sure KP sees the ball more than Melo when Melo is off.

he definetly needs to do it more consistently. The past two games he hasnt but KP still had a big game

looks this way, I can see Phil targeting a Lamar Odom, Luke Walton type of ball mover next.

Phil has definitely put together a roster of willing two way players for the most part. D-Will is not a good defender and I still don't why we got him.
But it's now up to Fisher to build an identity for this team of playing unselfish basketball - unfortunately for him he still has to coddle Melo's ego otherwise he will eventually get fired as well. That's the balance he has to keep and I hope he can pull it off. For years we heard Melo had no one to pass it to, now we have people scoring at a better clip than him and he still exits the game with ZERO assists. Selfish SOB

The shots he took last night were all makeabble. He did not have his legs so they did not sink as he wanted. Carmelo is known around the league as an offensive juggernaut; the mere fact he is on the floor makes life easier for KP and others to get easier looks. I know the young man is a special talent, but don't be so quick to throw away the old pot.

Bottom line is this, Carmelo has and is more then willing to be a facilitator; let's praise and encourage him to continue to do so

I agree. I want him to keep the defensive intensity, because others feed from it. Afflalo will bring the best out of the old dudes, because he brings it every night. He and KP will help Carmelo to finally reach his superstardom if they can stay healthy

I beg to differ; Carmelo has 71 games to prove to the world that he is still the offensive force that he is known to be. The one thing the world does not know is that he can be a facilitator and defender. In 71 games if he can stay healthy and play with the energy and passion we've seen thus far; watch out.

I love what I ha e seen in KP, but he can't be that player for 82 games. He will struggle after 20 games, because coaches and players around the league will have ample tapes to study and exploit his weaknesses

well obviously you want melo to be that guy more than KP which is fine but the team AND melo will benefit with KP being the focus. Kp is the better all around player
