I think that morey has done a bad job surrounding Harden. perhaps he would want to get rid of harden. I would give up the whole team other then you know who of course.

Do you think Dwight opts out?

No. He is being way overpaid.

I don't agree. Howard, Ariza, Brewer, Beverly, Jones, Thornton, Terry, Mcdaniels, Dekker even Harrell and Capela are a good combination of players. Lawson may not fit on the starting lineup but Harden is the one that asked for another ball handler to take away pressure.

That team without Harden would probably win about 25 games a year.

Good point. I liked watching the Capela kid. He is active around the basket. But he has no outside shot, seems to be an inside only guy.

We have a current thread about the attractiveness of the Knicks to potential FAs...
Think Harden is a guy that good players are going to want to play with unless they get Max money?
Think David West would have taken less $$ to play with Houston?
You want Harden, you have to take the good with the bad. Needs a bunch of guys who are going to play well without the ball and defer to him, and I wonder if you can even develop a young offensive talent on that team at this point.

Your analytics are in flames- Morey and Hinkie are both failing miserably- by midseason teams will stop shooting three pointers altogether!

You look up and down both of those GM's roster and find me a leader or anything remotely close, what kind of leadership are your getting from a locker room with Josh smith, James harden, Ty lawson, D howard, corey brewer, are those the type of guys you want around your young talented players. The 76ers roster is a joke, those guys play pick up ball.
Ironically Frazier(speaking on Houston's issues)said it on the air the other night, when he ask drexler what was going on, and he basically said the same thing. no leadership and the rosters no balance

I was speaking tongue in cheek, however I have had misgivings about pure analytics mainly because I think there are things you can't quantify (leadership, chemistry, heart, luck etc)- I've always thought Morey's Rockets got great results but lacked soul. Plus I think Harden and Dwight are two of the most unlikeable stars in the league.

28 of the 30 teams have analytics departments including the defending champions (every team except the Hornets and Magic).
Maybe if a team relies only on the analytics that's bad but if they rely only on the eyeball test (Hornets and Magic), that's bad too.

I agree. I think my blasting of analytics over the years was mainly due to feeling that it was being hyped and pushed a bit too much. There are lots of ways to build good basketball teams- some GMS have great instincts, some make good use of data- there's no right or wrong way to do it, just play to your strengths.

they are not the poster boys for analytics. They are just the extreme experimenters. Most every other team seems to have solid analytic teams.

They went to the WCF last yr. You think adding or losing Harden is the difference between WCF and 25 games? Harden is a great player and the players MVP for last yr. But those are some good role players on that squad and Howard attitude included is a high level center. Ariza is a perfect 3 and D compliment. Same with Beverly, they all fit Hardens game.

They won 56 but overachieved by about 6 games. (Their pythagorean wins put them at 50 based on scoring differential.) Without Harden, it might be more like low 30s last year but this year's team is a lot worse than last year's. Ariza? You can't be a perfect 3 when you're shooting 36% from the field. Those guys are all OK but limited players. Howard just gives you 30 min a game for half a season now.
Ariza pases the eye test this year but when you take a look at the data, he is having a really bad year. Last year he was decent but far from good.
Basically Harden carried a bad team but harden is hated very much here so I don't believe that he is getting the proper credit.
