Knicks · Good game for us (page 2)

EnySpree @ 11/30/2015 6:31 AM
I thought turnovers down the stretch killed us. Seraphin had 3 straight at one point. Calderón threw up a 3 with 12 seconds left on the shot clock in the last minute that was crazy. There was alot of mental mistakes down the stretch. Fisher also makes substitutions like a hockey coach. He's trying to show he Trusts his players but something is off.
newyorknewyork @ 11/30/2015 8:33 AM
We looked better this game due to the adjustments Fisher made with the lineups. He played his players to there strengths for the most part. He had a lineup of Seraphin, D.Williams, Thomas, Galloway, Grant and spread the floor out. Allowed Grant to run PNR with space with Seraphin. Or if that got stuffed they switched off to a post feed with Seraphin who also has been a willing passer so far.

D.Williams contributed because he got playing time and put in a very good effort getting to the basket and causing problems which we haven't gotten from him in a while.

If Fisher continues to match lineups to players strengths and skills set then we will be more successful, if he doesn't then we won't.

Knicks have been one of the best teams in the league in terms of turnovers every single year since Carmelo got here.

He's not a great ball handler and not really ever going to be a point forward, but calling him turnover prone is not accurate.

It's so weird that people always want Melo to be something he's not and then hold him to that standard. Melo is not going to be Lebron. Most players in the history of basketball are not going to be Lebron.

I will be happy with paul pierce or james harden.

So you don't want Melo to be something he's not, you just want him to be something he's not? Gotcha.

and James Harden plays PG, the only part of that role he doesnt handle is bringing the ball up the court.
ChuckBuck @ 11/30/2015 9:19 AM
It's clearly night and day when Melo is off the court. The ball finds players. Seraphim goes off, DWill gets in the action, Jerian makes shots, KP gets more needed touches, Arron Afflalo turns into super efficient Orlando Afflalo.

The Knicks shot 58% from the field and had 22 assists. Previous game against Orlando and Miami, they shot like shyt and stagnated like taking a constipated shyt on the toilet.

Knicks lost this game on the defensive end, not offensive end, and that can be taught and fixed with such a young team.

At least it's now clear who the round peg in the square hole to ALL true Knicks fans are. Melo clearly doesn't belong on this team. Team is much better without him. Just a matter of Phil convincing Melo to move on somehow, so we can finally move forward as a team.

What game were you watching, the knicks didn't lose because of no defense(houston shot 28% from 3, and 45% overall). It's unbelievable how some of you see what you want to see.

1)Seraphin shot well, defended ok, but turned the ball over 5 times,(i saw twice he tried to lead a fast break and coughed up the rock) which gave houston 12 points, and god knows how many offensive rebounds he gave up, mean while our starting center, the 2nd highest paid player on the team, and best rebounder(we gave up 17 offensive rebounds)played 14 minutes total.

2)calderone coughed up the ball 5 times(2 back breaking turnovers in the clutch) for 8 houston points, mean while Grant who shot 3 fo3 and was having a very good game played 12 minutes

3)Once again we had zero fast break to houstons 14 and 21 turnovers, yeah the ball was moving so much, we assisted houston for 24 points off turnovers. The ball doesn't move as much with melo (currently our assist leader) and thats ok, cause at least your making stupid passes that have no chance.

We lost the Game without melo, we win this game with melo. Houston is one of the worst defensive teams in the league, that's why we shot 56%, that had a lot more to do with how good we shot, as oppose to ball movement and no melo.

The coaching is bad, the talent and commitment is there from the players.

Despite the good defense for 3 and half quarters, defense is what let down the Knicks last night. Did you not watch the 32 points Houston lit the Knicks up for in the 4th quarter?

Same problem Knicks have had for the majority of the season. Get a decent lead, and then let the foot of the gas pedal late in games. No killer instinct yet. Somehow Marcus Thornton turned into Michael Jordan in the 4th.

There was clearly better ball movement, you might need lasik surgery or something. At least 8 players had 1 assist on the Knicks. No one player dominated touches or pounded the rock, most shots were within the system or their sweet spots on the floor.

21 Turnovers were due to Calderon unable to deal with Patrick Beverley's pressure. That whole Hose-A sucking thing still exists unfortunately. Point guard is still a major hole the Knicks have to plug in the off season.

AGREE......one can only imagine what this team could look like with a decent coach on the sideline.

If this dude could only wake up to see that Calderon is no longer a starting PG, and set a solid 10 to 11 men rotation; I would be hopeful. Two more losses and the media and players will start calling for his head. The game Vs. Philadelphia will prove to the entire world how terrible of a coach Fisher is

I'm sorry......Did we win the game? Last I checked that is what counts. Fans want to make knee jerk
statements. Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but moat teams set up a game plan for defending against Melo. Melo last minute scratch makes it hard to set up new game plan. Nor was there any mention of the bench finally scoring a few points. Main reason we lost previous three. Still in the mindset that Melo makes it easier for others to score as defenses are focused on him. Players just need to make their ahots and 2nd unit needs to be consistent. Bottom line, we win thin game with Melo.

Oh no, with Melo, we'd be down 14 the whole game, because even when we lose a game he doesn't appear in, it's Melo's fault. When we win, it's KP, it's Affalo, it's Lance Thomas, it's anyone else. When we lose, it's Cancermello.

Haters see what they want to see: Melo would be great if he would just accept his role....somewhere else. Unfortunately, Melo had the chance to go to Chicago, and he chose to stay here. For 5 more years.

Thorton turns into MJ, gerald green turns into MJ, Olapido turns into MJ, Mo williams turns into CP3. All of these unsung hero's who come off the bench (and were having terrible seasons prior) to torch the knicks on a nightly basis.

Thats called lack of preparation, failed scouting, and terrible in game adjustment, that's called bad coaching my friend. Blame melo, blame calderone, blame whoever scapegoat you want, but at the end of the day, being in denial, or naive, doesn't make you a smart person.

Derek Fisher doesn't pick and choose the roster. Point guard is a glaring hole that still hasn't been addressed yet. Jerian still a rookie, and the incumbent still has another year on his contract. Hopefully Phil can a find a taker for the remainder of Hose-A's contract. Either that, or we'll have to wait for free agency to upgrade PG.

Somehow Marcus Thornton turned into Michael Jordan in the 4th.

we make guards look great but how many forwards and centers do we cause to look mediocre? You know why? Cause our guards stink and our front line does not.

Again, your not paying close attn, We defend the 3 better than every team in the league (in a era where 3's rain like mayweather in a stip club). Our guards get beat a lot because we have a big front court, so they can afford to press up, and if they get beat, you have help in the size of two 7 footers.

It's the lack of fast break points, FT's, can't you see that?

I'm not saying our back court doesn't need a upgrade, all im saying is that defense is the absolute least of our worries

our guards are running players off the 3's and our bigs then foul them when they get to the hoop. Half bad half good I guess.

our guards defense is a big worry but our guards offense is worse.

The lack of fast break points is the least of my worries.

Not getting to the FT line is a huge worry and that has to do with us not getting any guard penetration and that we also settle for way too many mid range shots.

knicks1248 @ 11/30/2015 10:07 PM
Detriot is the worse shooting team in the league, and they shoot 52% tonight against the pathetic houston defense, Please don't think our shooting got better because we shot 56% against the worst defense in the league.

Or if that got stuffed they switched off to a post feed with Seraphin who also has been a willing passer so far.

D.Williams contributed because he got playing time and put in a very good effort getting to the basket and causing problems which we haven't gotten from him in a while.

If Fisher continues to match lineups to players strengths and skills set then we will be more successful, if he doesn't then we won't.

you have it backwards.

he is trying to get everyone to run the triangle more and more of the time. if that results in more losses this year for the sake of longer term success then we as fans will have to live with that. these are simply growing pains and most so-called fans want immediate gratification. it's not that fisher is clueless and incompetent.

an nba franchise is not a speedboat it's a tanker.

if we need to take a step back to takes steps forward then I am all for it. My gut is that this is not going to work here and that we will be ditching the triangle at some point.
