ESPN.com news servicesJahlil Okafor has been suspended two games effective immediately, the Philadelphia 76ers announced Wednesday.
"Jahlil is a very important part of our organization and our future. While we are disappointed with his recent actions, we have faith in him as a valued member of the Sixers," the team said in a statement. "We will provide the necessary resources to support him on his journey and will do our part to help him succeed both on and off the court."
Okafor will miss Wednesday night's game against the New York Knicks and Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets.
The suspension comes the same day after a second video was released by TMZ of Okafor's fight outside a Boston nightclub last week.
Wonder if the Sixers playing the next two games against top draft picks have anything to do with it? Sounds like Hinkie protecting himself as much as Okafor.
Damn. I really wanted to see that matchup.

Surprised this didn't come from the league. That second video is awful.
Two Games? How is the league not involved with this? Just shows that he has no one around him that has his best interest at heart. Hopefully the kid gets it together before it is too late.

Intriguing thought, especially since KP and Mudiay both had their names linked to the Sixers at one point in time or another by analysts and fans.
More likely that the second video sealed the suspensions...not sure they could let him play with that video on people's minds.
Interesting that in 3 games he might have played against Russell, KP, and Mudiay.
Ironically, the one team of the 3 that just might have taken him if he had been available, was the Knicks.
Philly is a bunch of cowards!

Someone on ESPN radio, before the suspension came down, speculated that the NBA had probably called and told Philly to do something immediately, and the league would act later.
I expect he will settle out of court with the victim for an "undisclosed amount of money," or he will be taken to either civil court.
Have to say that I also put a lot of blame on Christian Wood, who was there and was perhaps the only guy big enough to calm OK4 down.
If OK4 had a group he was with that night...they all failed him.
Sixers are a mess. Just glad the Knicks are not dealing with this kind of stuff right now. So far it's just been about Basketball and I hope it stays that way.
Might be a tougher lineup for the Knicks to defend against...much quicker than with OK4.
Melo off to a great start with an offensive foul and a turnover.
KP has such a pure stroke!
