Is Lebron no longer the world's greatest active player?
Steph Curry is having a better year than last year when he won the MVP. Can't imagine he doesn't win it again this year with the way he and the Warriors are playing.
Unreal.
To think, the Knicks were set to pick him before he got snatched up the pick before their pick. What a kick in the gut. Jordan Hill says "hi"

Knicks fans would've booed curry and UK members would've created multiple threads on his defensive issues and lack of strength. Thats the problem we have in NY....It takes a special personality to survive hear, regardless of skill set. Then once they get the exposure they catch the quickest cab out of town into a safe organization that nutures their star instead of ridiculing them on a day to day basis.
In my alternate history . . . Curry + D'Antoni would have lifted the curse and the Knicks would be 22-0 right now.

True, we were set to pick him but even without D'Antoni's pushing the pick publicly it has come out that the Warriors wanted him for a long time.
Now, we would be a pretty good team now (if we didn't trade him in the Melo package.) Talk about pain, imagine had we traded him for Melo.
And, if we did have him we would have no KP. And dare I say, we know not what we have...
for every great player in the NBA there is a team who had the next pick.
What will or wont make the Knicks great is how they execute moving forward. I like what Phil has done since coming in. I dont know if we can consolidate some of these spare-ish parts into a higher caliber player or not. It may simply be the majority of our near future improvements come from within. Grant, KP and Galloway all come to mind as players who can get to another level or two and they are already big parts of the rotation.
Its a little hard to be patient with Grant's development because our needs at PG are so glaring, but thats not his fault. Part of the process.
I'd like to think Dolan would not have traded Curry in the Melo deal.
I'd like to think Curry would have survived the emotional stress of dealing with the ankle injuries he had his first couple of years.
I'd like to think MDA would have sustained the starphuch tendencies and a GM would have drafted and traded with a goal in mind to run uptempo.
But the reality is Dolan did not have a culture in place that saw past the present.
Credit to GS warriors owners who when they bought the team embarked on a multi year journey making decisions toward a goal. Hiring a gay president, ridding of Mark Jax for his divisive ways and funny enough it all began with getting David Lee who was the first player bought in during this ownership. They trade Monte Ellis as well to give curry room to grow.
Kerr was the last piece.
Here, Fisher was one of the building blocks. This is why slamming him is comical and comparing him to Kerr is as well. Way different scenarios.
If Fish is not the guy it won't be anytime soon this is determined.
When the team wins 55-60 games and stifles then you know its time. GS did this but more important Jax was having personel issues.
So you're starting a team from scratch. Do you take Curry or LBJ?
LBJ.
Dude carried that sorry ass team to the finals. IN the end, Curry is the best player on the best team so he gets MVP.
I know, we all hate Lebron and Curry is the flavor of the month but Lebron is carrying his teams to the finals on his back.
Curry is doing some crazy shyt.
If we had drafted Curry, there was no way he wouldn't have gotten traded for Melo

I think he means right now: Older Lebron or young Curry. It has to be Curry by a landslide.

Curry is probably the one exception to your theory. Fans wanted him badly. I remember wanting him more than any other prospect we had ever had a realistic opportunity to get. Even with his weaknesses, playing for D'Antoni would have made him a fan favorite right away. He would have put up big numbers here. It would have changed the direction of this franchise. But hopefully since we suffered this long, Porzingis made it worth the wait and has the same impact we would have had from Curry.

If we had picked curry in that draft, he would be working on his 3rd MVP. MDA would be working on his 2nd COY, Amare wouldn't have been logging 45 minutes at night and his knees may have held up. I think the melo trade would have still happen because melo force the trade here anyway.
Walsh was doing a decent job, so it's not like it was a toxic situation like the Isiah Era.

Im talking about last spring. Maybe they win that first game in OT we talking differently. Im not taking a damn thing away from Curry. I don't think most really appreciate what Lebron does on the playoffs.
If IM building today for the long term that's a whole other story.
To OP, back to back MVP's??? Best player on the best team and if Warriors finish that way in the regular season Im perfectly ok with Curry as MVP.

That is a good point about the playoffs. We agree about the long-term too.
