Knicks · I predict that Melo will wave his no trade clause and wants out (page 2)

def not melo. He can possibly help teammates a bit more getting them the ball when he is doubled.
Yeah because the 8 assist coming from your forward is not enough, he needs to avg 10.
Your number one scoring option is avg 18 attempts a game, far less than any other number #1 scoring option in the league..what fckng more do you want...Is that all you got
nothing. I am thrilled with the way he is playing and he is definitely earning his money.
Or, maybe I want Dirk.

first it was he never passes, but now since he's doing that and taking moderate amount of shots for a volume shooter, you want to harp on his poor shooting.
He's step his defense up so far this season, has been a great mentor to KP, and a better leader over all, and you want to talk about his poor shooting, and we should trade him because of that..Do you see how ridiculous you folks sound
And you wonder why it's hard for the knicks to attract good players. Melo waiving his no trade clause could possibly cause more damage than good.
Melo is a strong willed player.....He's as mentally tough as they come......Might be the toughest mental player in the league, next to Lebron. If he can't last in NY, that will send major red flags.
WaltLongmire wrote:Harmless quote about Williams...You also conveniently omitted the part where Anthony said that some guys can't handle NY in reference to Williams. More of a poke at Williams rather than an indication that Anthony wants out.
Melo is getting fed up here and is starting to convince himself (possibly) that he can be happier and perhaps win somewhere else.Carry out your argument out to its logical conclusion when taking the interview into consideration, and you are basically saying that ANTHONY himself is admitting that he can't handle playing in NY, and therefore wants out.
Do you really believe this is what you can conclude from that interview??!!......or are you just projecting your own desires on Anthony?

Great display of mental toughness last night with the timely Technical foul and moving screen on that Porzingis 3 point attempt with a minute left!

No need to get defensive for melo so easily.
You wouldn't have started this thread if we won the last 2 games for example, that is my point.

probably not because then Melo would not have sounded so defected and make those comments about NY.

But it's been a constant the whole season. Melo hasn't played well the whole season.
KP's surpassed him already as Alpha on the team, rather easily I might add. His win shares is at .155 WS/48 while Melo's is slowly declining each game and currently at .129. Win or loss, if Melo shoots or plays well it's getting more uncommon.
And let's not start the "surgical knee repair getting back into shape" excuse now, it's been preseason and 22 games already. He is what he is at this point. Old, wrong side of prime, declining, albatross contract.

That wasn't mental toughness....that was stupidity. Melo is starting to see the writing on the wall, and I believe the triangle hasn't been working well for him.....Or maybe playing the SF position, going against quicker guys and not being able to beat them off the dribble. It all leads to frustration. Then watching KP go off, makes him want to provide that second scoring punch, but I think Melo's days at SF is over. He can't beat quicker guys off the dribble.....and we have a team full of centers and forwards that clog the paint, so he cant take smaller guys down low. He's basically hand cuff to just being a jump shooting facilitator. I said this would be the issue, when Melo plays with two bigs. By the time he moves KP to center, Melo is slower and tired and has old legs to beat quicker SF's like Mathews off the dribble. Yes, achilles torn Mathews.....Gives Melo problems. And he's not even close to being the best SF defender Melo will face. Basically, we will win whenever Melo has a hot shooting streak. He needs to be moved to PF, and the PF we have needs to be traded for a defensive SF. Otherwise, we will be slightly under .500 all season!

Not sure that they could ever pull off a deal but I believe that melo is definitely open to waving if its the right situation.

I wonder if a Melo-KP combo would help entice KD to sign here though.
I definitely understand the reasoning behind selling now and could get behind that too.

I'd say a majority of logical basketball and true Knicks fans would sign up for a healthy KD-KP combo in a heartbeat. Need to find a taker for Melo's (NTC waived of course) fast declining prime somehow first though.

I have no problem with trading him, its just not worth discussing. He's not going anywhere. He's a NY guy now like it or not.
A realistic scenario? Knicks dont sign anyone next summer, KP tears his knee up and Knicks are looking at 30 win season with a MElo based team. Then maybe Phil says hey... want to look around? Even then I could see him staying. Everytime KP tells the media "Carmelo has been like a big brother to me" Melo is here another month. So far Ive heard KP say it about 30 times.. so talk to me in 2017

If we don't sign anyone and KP tears up his knee, we're probably looking at another 15 win season.
But on your main point, you may be right. What you're saying is reasonable based on most of what Melo has said.

Houston, Miami, Memphis ... there are a number of teams like these where melo may be the missing piece.
I think that Melo is torn.
