But it's been a constant the whole season. Melo hasn't played well the whole season.

KP's surpassed him already as Alpha on the team, rather easily I might add. His win shares is at .155 WS/48 while Melo's is slowly declining each game and currently at .129. Win or loss, if Melo shoots or plays well it's getting more uncommon.

And let's not start the "surgical knee repair getting back into shape" excuse now, it's been preseason and 22 games already. He is what he is at this point. Old, wrong side of prime, declining, albatross contract.

Melo is starting to see the writing on the wall, and I believe the triangle hasn't been working well for him.....Or maybe playing the SF position, going against quicker guys and not being able to beat them off the dribble. It all leads to frustration. Then watching KP go off, makes him want to provide that second scoring punch, but I think Melo's days at SF is over. He can't beat quicker guys off the dribble.....and we have a team full of centers and forwards that clog the paint, so he cant take smaller guys down low. He's basically hand cuff to just being a jump shooting facilitator. I said this would be the issue, when Melo plays with two bigs. By the time he moves KP to center, Melo is slower and tired and has old legs to beat quicker SF's like Mathews off the dribble. Yes, achilles torn Mathews.....Gives Melo problems. And he's not even close to being the best SF defender Melo will face. Basically, we will win whenever Melo has a hot shooting streak. Not sure that they could ever pull off a deal but I believe that melo is definitely open to waving if its the right situation.

am I imagining things or did Melo not have great success destroying Mathews in the paint, and did a good job staying with him on defense. Melo's jumper just isnt falling. 1-5 last night from 3. I thought he did a pretty good job of being effective when his jumper wasnt falling. He forced too many passes but did end up with 8 assists. He had some good rebounds when KP was playing center and really hurt Mathews when he tried to guard MElo 1-1. No?

I'd say a majority of logical basketball and true Knicks fans would sign up for a healthy KD-KP combo in a heartbeat. Need to find a taker for Melo's (NTC waived of course) fast declining prime somehow first though.

we never had a chance to move him that was realistic. I dont see any options where Melo waives it for chance to win a ring. I dont think thats what is pushing him now. I think he would rather stay here and come up short than risk chasing a title. If you really follow his comments he's here to stick it out. He's making adjustments. Some good, some a little rough.

So far Ive heard KP say it about 30 times.. so talk to me in 2017

Not sure that they could ever pull off a deal but I believe that melo is definitely open to waving if its the right situation.

we never had a chance to move him that was realistic. I dont see any options where Melo waives it for chance to win a ring. I dont think thats what is pushing him now. I think he would rather stay here and come up short than risk chasing a title. If you really follow his comments he's here to stick it out. He's making adjustments. Some good, some a little rough.

I have no problem with trading him, its just not worth discussing. He's not going anywhere. He's a NY guy now like it or not.

A realistic scenario? Knicks dont sign anyone next summer, KP tears his knee up and Knicks are looking at 30 win season with a MElo based team. Then maybe Phil says hey... want to look around? Even then I could see him staying. Everytime KP tells the media "Carmelo has been like a big brother to me" Melo is here another month. So far Ive heard KP say it about 30 times.. so talk to me in 2017

Houston, Miami, Memphis ... there are a number of teams like these where melo may be the missing piece.

I think that Melo is torn.

I predict that Melo will average 30+ ppg in March and April like he almost always does and will keep the Knicks in contention for the 7th/8th seed til near the end of the season.
