Girgensons led the NHL all-star voting from the get-go and finished ahead of Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and everyone else with 1,574,896 votes.
Yup, as I say, neither Curry or James got that much. If KP just receives just that many votes, and KP is better known and has a high profile as an NBA player than Girgensons had as an NHL player, he'll start for the East.
Lightning may not strike twice, but it's entirely possible… and I think the NBA would love it.
I can see a country like Latvia being big with hockey, is it same with basketball?
Good question ;-). I don't know… but does Girgensons have a rap song?
I am from Latvia. From capital Riga. left to US at 33.
Was in Liepaja a lot.
Latvian clubs always competed on a high level in USSR tournaments and euro-ball.
BBal is as big in Latvia as Hockey if not even bigger.
There are 2 million people in Latvia altogether but a lot of Latvians are leaving all over the world.
Votes may come from Lithuania, Estonia , Spain and other EU countries. They know KP.
oh cool, thanks

KP?
I say given the hype and NY factor (not to mention the more than solid play), KP has a good chance to get voted in. I just hope he doesn't get voted in over Melo. That probably would be a disaster.
I actually hope KP doesn't get in because he needs to earn it first and pay his dues. He's going to be great, but he's not there yet. We don't want to take any chances with him getting complacent, not that he has shown any indication he ever would, but let him earn it first. It is different for guys like Kobe or Wade or pretty soon Melo, who are legacy picks. Let KP earn it and put up all-star numbers first.
Isn't he though? He's having an All Star campaign. He's earned it already. He should represent the Knicks as one of the best Power Forwards in the East, and the Knicks best player.

So according to ESPN, the Knicks have 2 TOP 10 player in their respective positions for the whole NBA. KP(pf#9), Melo(sf#6). That is awesome!!! When was the last time we had 2 top 10 players in their current position? WOAH!! KP is #38 for all players!!! He deserves to be an ALL-STAR!!!

Yup. He's already $7,800 on DraftKings as well. Much deserving of a spot (Utah aberration game aside).
Who cares if he deserves it? Why is the media fixated on him? Because the fans are extremely intrigued by him. Fans want to see him play cause he is 7 foot 3, shoots like an SG, is funny as hell, and is as eloquent as any 19 y/o that I've heard.
screw him! this may be the first time that I vote and it will be for Kobe.
I gotta see that tank sh1t in the all star game.

Wanted to dig this one up. Personally I've never given much attention to the All Star Games, except for the highlights the next day. I think Mr. Drummond at this point has a much better chance than anyone else of snatching one of those FC spots from any of the guys that showed up last year.

He is a deserving reserve. I still think Lebron, PG, and Melo are the starters. Melo is playing at an all-star level now, no question about it. He's been great. KP will get plenty of fan-fair, but obviously as i explained in this thread, he wasn't playing at an all-star level even when he was averaging 15 and 9. But he is still the 2nd best rookie and has been a net-positive, which is rare for a rookie, just not an all-star yet. Drummond should definitely get in though as a reserve.
remember when we could of got Lowry for Hardaway and a 2018 first.

Yup, only way to justify it now is to say we only got Porzingis because we made stupid decisions such as that.
