True. Must win game and showed he is elite.

Yeah its just amazing, everyone is so quick to point out stats and such that show his under performance, and they forget to watch games and see these types of things. I credit him for the one playoff series win and leading a competitive, but unsuccessful run against indiana, because he was pretty much on his own out there. I really felt bad for him.

nobody shows they are elite in one game. His overall playoff performance shows that he is nowhere near elite in postseason.

The (warranted) criticism he has gotten; specifically from Barkley has awaken a beast out of this dude. His legs looked very strong in the Portland game, Which enabled him to finish most of the plays he was having problems with early on. I pray that he can continue to push through, because this dude is a very valuable piece for the entire league. I believe we will soon see the consistent 28 and 10 player.
Can you list his shooting #s the past few games -- just want to get a sense of how you are judging his return.
I know we have 2 shitty teams we play next 2 nights so Melo should feast - as per normal against the bottom feeders. I'm hoping he can play well against 2 good teams like Bulls/Magic after the 2 patsies.
Knicks1969@ 12/16/2015 10:26 PM
The dude flat out balled to night. He is finishing a lot of the early shots he was missing, and he ran the show as well as I have ever seen him do. This Carmelo is a superstar.
On a side note, fisher did a decent job with the rotation tonight. KO and Williams were very active and they were blessed with minutes once again tonight; thank God for that
crzymdups@ 12/16/2015 10:37 PM
Melo's last five games:
22pts 9rebs 5ast
his shot isn't there, but his defense and passing are very good.

I am pleasantly surprised with this Carmelo. The knock on him has always been that he was selfish, don't commit on defense, and is not a leader; I believe he is destroying all of that notion this season. This is our leader folks; he are to be praised for his effort

Typical selfish Melo... sigh.

Is this Carmelo playing more like Paul Pierce or Lamar Odoms but much more aggressive on offense? I have never seen Pierce in the triangle, so I can't see the comparison other then the penchant for scoring the ball.

When I say "Paul Pierce"-like play - what I mean is when Pierce went from being a 25ppg scorer to being a 20ppg scorer who passed and moved the ball more when the Celtics brought in Ray Allen and KG.
He sacrificed something off his scoring average to play more of a team game.

He's had some bad playoffs games - he's had some great ones. Most guys have a mix.
I was responding to the idea that Melo has had one great playoffs performance. He's had many. He's had some bad ones, but that's often because he's the lone offensive threat on his team and the defense can load up on him. And those opponents have been very very good. Four times he's lost in the first round to the eventual NBA Champ. Playing against the NBA champions in the first round on an inferior team is going to make your efficiency stats look like crap.

But Me70's great playoff performances only count as half a performance. His bad ones count twice. Simple math.

Imagine that happening, when you actually have talent on your team?
I have never understood the PP jock riding. What exactly did PP accomplish without KG/Ray Allen/Rondo that Melo didn't in Denver? I mean besides the Celts not even making the playoffs 5 out of 9 seasons?
Knicks1969@ 12/17/2015 12:55 PM
I never liked PP's game until after Garnett's arrival. I always thought he was arrogant and trigger happy. When Garnett and Allen arrived,PP changed his total approach and became a better all around BB player.
I don't think any of us ever looked at Carmelo as an arrogant BB player. In fact, my biggest criticism of him always been the fact that he was too passive and never played with the fire of a Jordan/Kobe/lebron/Wade. I often placed him in the same tier as Vince Carter and MacGrady.
The 2015 Carmelo is showing that he has finally gotten the message. He is getting his teammates involved, he is defending, rebounding, and most of all, he is leading this young core of players. It was a blessing that Phil traded JR whose "childish/unprofessional" personality I believe hindered Carmelo's growth as a leader. He is now surrounded with all around talents, and I hope that he finds the strength to bring it every night, because this dude is too good of a talent to not get the glory that he deserves
