I suspect Lance always had these skills, but were enough below the NBA level that he didnt really use them and instead focused on what he was asked to do... defend and play the blue collar role.

There is doubt that he was told there would be shots in this system for him and Lance put the work in to make sure he was ready for them. Once you hit a few, the confidence soars and a player goes from fringe bench to solid rotation. Good story

Well he did say that he worked on his shot so sounds to me like he worked on his shot.....just sayin.

Knicks now 11-6 when Lance plays 19minutes.

He's scored double figures off the bench in 8 out of 10 games.

First guy off the bench tonight too.

Playing really well.

9 out of 11 games in double figures for Lance.

Team is 12-6 now when he plays over 19min.

his ts is terrific! 58 he needs to get some more assists, rebounds and/or steals.

Really like what I see from him.

Wow. I remember hoping the Knicks might use his spot to pick up a guy waived at the end of training camp. High character, hard worker that is getting the most out of his talent. The Knick roster is filled with high character guys and it is working pretty well for a group of guys playing together for the first time.

I was thinking the same thing....like most of us.

But now it should be clear what Phils development plan was / is, and why he shipped out talented players like JR, Shump, and Tyson.

High character / high IQ players plus super stars and potential super stars is the recipe for winning a championship. I remember the Bulls team and how many high character guys they had, mixed in with a few super stars. Pipen and Denis Rodman combined equals a solid super star.

Trading LT would be a terrible decision. Phil needs to re-sign this dude

Lance is becoming for us the type of system player the Spurs always develop. Fits the team concept here perfectly, learning how to get his shots in the flow of the offense, great team defender. I think if he went anywhere else he might struggle. Though he did have a stretch where he played when Durant was out in OKC and he put up solid numbers. But the way he's playing now is hyper efficient and totally within himself and the system. It's fun to watch.

Awesome. He is a keeper.

I look at him as a bellweather for the overall offense. If the ball is moving right, he will get good shots and knock them down at a good rate, partly because he knows where to be and when to shoot better now... but to me, he is an indicator of the team overall playing smart, crisp ball.

Never really understood why people were down on him to begin with.

You should've been here when he was signed for $1.6M this past summer, the board almost imploded with hatred for Phil Jackson.

Yes. In Phil We Trust
RonRon @ 12/20/2015 6:21 PM
Yes he has, if we can add James Johnson as a poor mans Draymond Green, I think they would both serve as a solid DEFENSIVE combo, even Matt Barnes (though unlikely with Fisher and Barnes ex wife)

i liked what i saw from last season and thought he'd be a good player. then in summer league i wondered what i had seen in him because he looked horrible.

i am very glad to see my initial impression panned out.

i was not a believer. but i have lived through frederic weis, maciej lampe, gallinari's injury ridden rookie season, and of course bargs, so I think it is fair to have been a little gun-shy on that front as a knicks fan.
