D'Antoni obviously has ties to Colangelo from their Phoenix Suns days. Wonder if this move is a hedge?

Either way, this move won't help their woeful defense none whatsoever. They won't win more games, but at least they'll be exciting to watch (somewhat).

I'd have to think he is getting 1.5mil and at age 64 maybe he don't have to deal with a lot of the garbage that goes with head coach.

One might even say he is a coaching junkie and just flat out enjoys it. He has been a part of the USA basketball program for years and is well regarded and respected.

If this is hitting rock bottom, I'd say its not a bad gig at all. He gets to coach and teach young guys and be part of an organization that is stepping up and making a commitment.

LOL, Extension/buy out...MDA will be the head coach in the very near future

No where to go but up from here, so its not like he is brow-beaten on the team. That's the thing at age 64 and financially set does he chase the money or a gig? Was he even really putting himself out there for a head coaching gig. He is tight with Collangelo from PHX and Team USA. The Knick gig changed on him with Walsh was outed and the Laker gig had a ton of potential but injuries just did not pan out.

He is considered one of the best offensive coach's. At least Koach K things so.

I don't think taking a gig like that is all that terrible if he has coaching in his blood.

They will find about 10 SG's in the D league or college that can shoot to play next to Steph. Meanwhile, Steph would've lost his confidence due to the NY media hounding him about if he's a SG or a PG......Whats his position? How are you going to guard Russell Westbrook and D Rose........

Really, did anyone expect him to be this good? hindsight is easy. I would imagine if what we know know would he have gone 7th?

Minny took Rubio and Flynn with the 5th and 6th pick. Kahn that stupid? in hindisight, hell yeah!!!

OK, "gee, we should have done a deal with Minny and swapped one of those picks!!!!! Has anyone verified what was done or attempted for us to move up? Was Curry expected to be there at the 6?
And without the benefit of time travel, what was being asked from clubs in order to move up?

Steph and Amare under MDA would have been a dream

Steph would've extended Amare's career.....Once Amare tried to change his game, due to Melo's arrival, all the injuries started to happen. One thing about injuries, they usually occurr when you change your normal activities.....Which was the case for me, and so many others. Amare would've turned back the clock to his Steve Nash days. He was never a half court, ground and pound type of player. That Steph pick impacted the knicks more than people think. And to be honest, most had the same feelings when Russell was picked ahead of us. Good thing LA jumped the gun. Russell had 2 pts last night off the bench. He's a classic case of what happens to a confident player when the wrong team drafts you.

Which amare? Amare had one good solid season here.
In prime time travel Amare and in prime MVP Curry would be better than Nash/Amare cuz Curry is better than Nash.

I cannot imagine Curry not being sent as part of the Melo deal. Curry was not present MVP curry. That trade was done in Curry's rookie year.

Curry's first two years were very very good. His third he only played 26 games. His fourth was when he took it to another level.

Imagine knicks and fans being contented with 17-18 points avg the first two years, then missing over two thirds season 3. No way. Most of you would be screaming to trade him.
Sorry, this hindsight love feast is two sorry. We just cleared the decks to make a LeBron run and I don't think we had the trade assets to move up. GS was not going to swap with us, and Minny was the obvious partner. What did they want???

It was was Griffin, Thabeet, Harden, Tyreke Evans, Rubio, Flynn then Curry.

This is like when the Knicks brought in Mike Woodson to be MDA's "defensive coordinator", or when Lawrence Frank was brought in as Kidd insurance (which is why Jason Kidd had him fired as soon as he could)...

Interesting times in Philly.
