The NBA is currently ruined. We are watching players who should be in college mostly not bring it every night. These players are all kids we are watching. There is a lack of maturity to the game, where guys just pout and do not give it their all.
Our players if they gave it their all every game we'd be better. Whose fault is it that we are not giving our all every game? The coach, the players or both?
main point - raise the age limit.
The NBA is a business that needs to have the product improved, as good as it already is. The NBA is no place for kids and there are too many kids entering the NBA with maturity issues. Even two years of college experience isn't enough but at least it's something.
At least it's one year though. When kids were entering from HS, the quality of play was REALLY sloppy.

I think the quality of the game now is so much worse than before. everyone seems so young. and no one hits the weights anymore it seems. there are no Anthony Masons or anything similar. Shocking really. Where are all the shooting guards? There are no guys that know how to shoot anymore (besides Klay and Curry).

while im all for kids having the right to earn money, as a selfish NBA fan, i agree - the quality of this league sucks cuz its diluted with raw kids who are not ready.
silver has to get rid of the one and done phenomenon. if the kid has hardship issues or doesn't want a free education then he can go to europe or china and make money until he's nba-ready. problem solved.

simple fix - let colleges pay kids.
Yes, they're getting a 'free education'. But, the same way that they pay students to work different jobs on campus, they should pay an accordingly valued wage vs. what they, student athletes, actually produce.
Second thing that could happen is to turn the NBDL into a real minor league that pays better wages, and allow NBA teams to develop talent just like baseball and tons of other sports.
None of this is likely to happen because very rich people (billionaire NBA owners, colleges) seldom want to give up any of their wealth/income unless they have no choice.
And I don't agree with David - this is their own making from greed, and not wanting to do the right thing.

I disagree- plenty of older vets dog it, so I don't think it's an age thing. When I was younger it use to annoy me when players didn't bring it every night, but nowadays I must say I don't blame them- the nba schedule is brutal. Pacing themselves actually makes a lot of sense. As long as they care and work hard and don't take the p*** then I don't get too worked up at them not going all out all the time.
82 games means you can't bring it all the time.
Nobody is putting a gun to the GM's to take young players that lack fundamentals. But they do.
Young players not fit for the NBA might not fair better in the Dleague unless they can practice and work on their games like they can in college.
The money is not great in the Dleague.
Is this about money, or fundamentals. If fundamentals, then they need to stay in school. I think NBA should be able to draft players and let them stay in school. Teams can pay their tuition and money put into a sort of trust so they are compensated and expenses covered. When I say a sort of "Trust" lets say that money is put aside for them to finish college, buy insurance against injury and cover a certain amount of expenses. Point is not give a college kid 2 million a year to plow thru.
