Heard on the news he was shot in the knee in a hold up as he left a strip club in Queens NYC.

holy sh1t!!!!!!!!
Nalod @ 12/30/2015 7:31 AM
That sucks!!

I hope its not a career ender. Not my favorite player but these kids work damn hard to even get to the NBA let alone stick.

newyorker4ever @ 12/30/2015 7:46 AM
These guys stole his gold caps from his teeth. WTF
gunsnewing @ 12/30/2015 8:49 AM
Wow that's 3rd world stuff right there. Glad we have strict gun laws in the metro area to keep these violent crimes down. Just glad Clay is ok
JesseDark @ 12/30/2015 9:04 AM
Seems like he was targeted, and to shoot him in the knee i just wrong, not that he should have been shot at all. A professional athlete carrying a gun in NYC, what could go wrong there - see Plaxico Buress.
Nalod @ 12/30/2015 9:08 AM
If he had a gun then what? He dies???
What in gods name happened that prompted them to shoot him?
No doubt he was targeted but to shoot him in the knee is cruel for anyone, yet alone a professional athlete.
knicks1248 @ 12/30/2015 9:17 AM
Wow....somebody set him up.
EnySpree @ 12/30/2015 9:19 AM
That's a classic set up. CLEAN walks in alone with his lady. The goons inside or maybe even one of the strippers, bouncers, bartenders or even his lady make a call and then the other gooons wait for him to leave. That's why you need to have your boys with you to keep extra eyes and wits about. Famous guys need security especially if they are alone.

Shot him in the knee? Sounds dirty. Hopefully the kid can continue his career. Getting robbed is one thing but shooting him in the knee sounds like a super asshole move to add insult to injury

Gudris @ 12/30/2015 9:23 AM
Thats crazy shit, but thats happens when every idiot is allowed to have a guns in a home, im from Latvia and you wont find a gun at a regular people house, only if you are policemen or a hunter.
ChuckBuck @ 12/30/2015 9:33 AM
First off, hope Cleanthony is okay and makes a full recovery and can continue his NBA career.

2nd, Why the FUQ did he not have any sort of security detail or someone from Dolan's fat pockets watch his back?

3rd, if it was a setup, I hope it wasn't instigated by Cleanthony flaunting his wealth. It would just be dumb and sad that this happened because he tried to make it rain in a 2nd rate Queens strip club of all places...

Cleanthony, download the friggin' Yelp app for chrissakes! 24 years old and don't know how to internet, how dumb can you be!

TPercy @ 12/30/2015 9:35 AM
thats fucked up

I wouldn't doubt if it was just all these guys drinking and partying in the strip club and of course when a professional athlete is in the club the word will get around the club quick and some dudes in the club while drunk came up with this great plan to rob him when he left the club. Alcohol can really mess up your choice making skills.

I heard one report say that 3 cars surrounded the cab he was in and then another one that said like 6 guys surrounded him so that one sounds like he wasn't in a cab but outside the club so i'm sure it will take a day or two for the real story to come out. Getting shot in the knee definitely ends this season for him but hopefully not his career.

crzymdups @ 12/30/2015 9:48 AM
Holy crap. Damn I hope Cle is okay. The knee is brutal.

Reading those Yelp reviews, that place sounds awful.

Wall Street Journal says it was cars surrounding his Uber boxing him in and six guys got out.

What does this say about uber? I wonder if they were part of this set up.....I never used uber b4 but I've always been skeptical. It was definitely a setup and for those that wish they were an nba athlete.....be careful what you wish for. Entertainers can't live normal lives. They are always a target. To shoot the knees was an orchestrated robbery with a purpose. NY is filled with organized crimes and gangs.....There's more to this story. It was straight out of a movie sceen. And it makes it hard to attract free agents who already fear nyc lifestyle.
herkyJerky @ 12/30/2015 9:53 AM
That sucks, but at least he's still alive. And yeah, this does pretty much smell like a set up. I didn't read the article yet, but I wonder if the club had any kind of security. I don't know much about how strip clubs are run, but I know if I had a club with security I'd be making sure guys like him were escorted to their cars at the end of the night just to make sure. You'd want guys like him coming back. Speedy recovery, young man!

Read the Yelp reviews. This place was a shtthole. Cle is trying to live large in nyc on second round money.

I think if he was set up it happened at the club rather than by Uber. You read the article - they took the drivers ID. So if they get caught they come for him. Sounds like a gang of some type to me.

A New York Knicks player was shot and injured after he was robbed in an Uber car on his way home from a club in Queens early Wednesday, a law-enforcement official said.

Cleanthony Early, a forward for the Knicks, was with his girlfriend and had left the CityScapes Gentleman’s Club in Maspeth in an Uber car when a group of as many as six men forced the vehicle to pull over at Maurice Avenue in Elmhurst, at about 4:30 a.m., the official said.

Mr. Early was robbed of two gold chains with medallions, cash and a cell phone before one of the men shot him in the right leg, police and the official said.

Mr. Early was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The night began with the pair going for dinner in SoHo and then arriving at the strip club on 58th Street at about 1:30 a.m., another law-enforcement official said. Hours later, the ballplayer hailed the car using the app on his phone and hopped into the back seat with his girlfriend, the official said.

Minutes later, the Uber vehicle was boxed in by two or three vehicles in an industrial area, the official said. Two men—one wearing a mask and another who didn't—pulled Mr. Early out of the back seat, the official said. Both had small semiautomatic guns and told Mr. Early to give them everything that he had, the official said. Mr. Early then turned over his valuables, the official said.

The Uber driver was unharmed and only robbed of his identification, the official said. Mr. Early’s girlfriend was also unharmed, the official said.

About 10 days earlier, Derrick Williams -- a teammate of Mr. Early’s -- was robbed of hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry at his home after bringing two women home from a club following the Knicks win over the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden.

Mr. Williams has declined to discuss the case with reporters.

In light of the incident with Mr. Williams, Knicks coach Derek Fisher was recently asked whether the team has a curfew or policy that players are supposed to operate within when they go out late at night.

“I don’t really have to get into our policies of what you can and can’t do,” he said last week. “We don’t have a curfew like in the NFL or other sports do on certain nights. It’s an unfortunate incident.”

The more I read about it, the less I feel sorry for Cleanthony:

The attack happened around 4:30 a.m. after the 24-year-old Bronx native left the CityScapes Gentlemen’s Club on 58th Street and jumped into a livery car.

The night began with the pair going for dinner in SoHo and then arriving at the strip club on 58th Street at about 1:30 a.m., another law-enforcement official said. Hours later, the ballplayer hailed the car using the app on his phone and hopped into the back seat with his girlfriend, the official said.

So apparently, Cleanthony took his dinner date from the relatively safe area of SoHo MANHATTAN to one of the seediest strip clubs in QUEENS, an entirely different borough. Somehow Cleanthony knows how to hail an UBER, but doesn't know how to YELP. And he decided his date would love making it rain until 4:30 AM in the morning in this sketchy part of town. How romantic!

This is squarely on him.
