Knicks · What are we waiting for? 10 Day Contracts... (page 1)

We have an available roster spot, why haven't we signed someone yet before we began this road trip--especially being undermanned with the loss of Cleo?

What are we waiting for? Another team to beat us in signing either Fredette or Wroten? I don't understand the hesitancy.

Those guys have been available all along. I think the waiting is to see who gets waived to create a roster space. It also will be interesting to see if the knicks don't go for back court help.

True, but it's one less body to have for practice and in case of injury. Signing a player to a 10 day before heading out on the road today would have been a good idea.

You may be right about waiting for another team to waive a player from their roster before the deadline. That's the only logical conclusion. I'm just worried because the D league Showcase starts tomorrow and all team scouts will be in attendance to get a look at all the prospects. If any of these players have a good game, they may be scooped up right away. Jimmer already knows our system and has been playing well; you can just plug him right into the rotation. We desperately need backcourt help unless Grant has taken a step forward.

Word out that Wroten not likely for the Knicks---

Steve Kyler: Was told Tony Wroten not very likely for the Knicks. He’s looking for a spot he could potentially stick twitter.com/MicDropJackson… – via Twitter stevekylerNBA

I suspect this is part of the reason we don't see any 10 day contracts league wide. Agents are going to look for guaranteed contracts first. If they don't materialize, then they have to go down the 10 day contract route. This is the process of the business side of the league, but I think what Kyler is reporting is accurate and goes both ways. Both teams and players are looking for a good fit with the potential to stick. It will all shake out in time. Not really going to lose sleep over the 15th man and a pool of marginal NBA talent. We already have pretty good depth and the team is playing together, if a player wants to audition for the team on a 10 day with the hopes of sticking, the process will work itself out.

BTW - I am not specifically speaking to you BRD, I am just adding to what you posted

Triangle not a good thing for 10 day contracts.
Boris Diaw was picked up by Spurs when Hornets/Bobcats released him and made a big impact.
But he was a proven vet kind of player.
Maybe Phil is keeping a spot for a trade scenario? I don't know.
It happens where a GM is trying to trade someone and ends up releasing them when a deal cannot be made.

I nicknamed him "Captain Ahab" now that he's limping around on one (good) leg. Pretty sure that's worse.
