if he steps out, who protects the rim when our guards get beat?

KP?

thats if kp is in and not defending a stretch 4.

Milsap and Horford both need to be guarded from deep. You gotta pick your poison. Also, Rolo is a better rim protector.

Luckily there are not many centers who can shoot from distance.

well OK. So your question posed to any team is: If your opponent has a stretch 4 and a stretch 5 and they are both sitting behind the 3 point line, who is gonna protect the rim?

How many teams is that? And BTW, Knicks just beat that Milsap/Horford combo back to back so I guess we got that down.

not sure what you are arguing. I am saying that if you would like him to get out more on the perimeter like the poster suggested (probably because Horford hit some 3's) then I am saying that he is/was playing a lot of help defense and guarding the paint.

I am not blaming him, I am defending him. And that is exactly my point - even if he is not great on the perimeter, how often is he forced to guard it since very few teams have a stretch 4 and 5.

KP has gotten better at recognizing when Rolo is going to step out to challenge and it's his job to slide over to cover the paint. Rolo mentioned this in a recent post game interview. It's about recognition and learning how one another play - they're getting there.

This isn't new for KP. His coach in Euro league made him play the same way to help cover for Willy, who isn't much of shot blocker.

this is great guys, we've made the play offs!

Or, am I premature?

I will say this - its nice not to be the small squad getting bullied/pushed around.

Rolo is a good shot blocker, too. I'm just saying they're learning how to play off one another and learning one another's tendencies.

Better familiarity has improved their effectiveness playing together.

they remind me a lot of WCS and Towns at KY. Lopez is the disciplined anchor like WCS and KP gets to roam a bit more and free lance like Towns did. Great size that is versatile and can play off each other

MDA's Phoenix team was a prime recent example of a particularly small starting team.

this era will be looked back at as a joke. remember when every team thought it was good to avoid having big, tall players? hahaha

Yeah remember when GS won using it? Haha funny times.

that was last year...not sure if you have noticed but they did give the backup center 10 more mins this year and bogut is playing 20 mins a game as well...that will go up.

they are doing better this year...not because they decided to go smaller.
probably because defenses are being even more honest with them on the perimeter.
if i recall, bogut is up there in efficiency this year. that helps curry and klay

It does not change the fact that small ball is not a stupid lineup in any way. It all pretty much depends on matchups as to whether or not it will be effective or not.
