Knicks · OT: interesting point in Simmons podcast on why there's no way KD leaves OKC this off-season (page 1)

They think he'll sign a one-year contract so that he and Westbrook are both free agents at the same time in 2017.

In 2017, KD will also be a ten-year service player and he can command 35% of the cap and the cap will be $103M. So he can sign a $35M a year contract - that's like a five year $180M deal.

There's no way he leaves this off-season and there's probably no way he leaves OKC at all.

I also think he will want to see what Westbrook and Ibaka do.

I don't see KD leaving - we haven't heard a peep about his free agency. I think he does the one-year deal thing.

"i think KD will or maybe i think he SHOULD stay there for one more yr...that will make him a 10 yr vet. give the old gang a try with he and westbrook and ibaka. if that doesnt work out then he will earn even MORE MAX MONEY as a ten yr vet the following yr"

haha, you are correct. I didn't see that post. I don't see him leaving, certainly not this summer.

Apparently Zack Lowe wrote an article back in October about all this, too.

of course he is not leaving. If you follow durant you would see that this would never happen. He is a lifer.
