Pretty sure we have his Bird Rights, but he is definitely going to get a pay raise. He is the sort of player the Knicks need to keep around on a reasonable contract.

3 mil a year for 3 years is a big jump for a guy making a mil a year and was on the cusp of being out.
Market forces will determine his value.

That dude is more then deserving of a nice pay check. He is our BEST defender and a hell of an offensive player
Mixed emotions about Thomas's next contract. He's playing great. When Thomas started the season, he was flailing away offensively. Endless motor, but a bit out of control at times. Lance has really gotten his game together.
If you "overpay" for Thomas, you have to hope this wasn't only a contract year performance. Not overly concerned about it, but its something to keep in mind.

agreed dude. I like the anderson/eisley comparison. Both those players had one good year then were rewarded with a big raise and we all remember how that ended up. I like the way thomas has played but he doesnt have a long track record before this year. I just dont want to overpay for a bench player even a good one

Im guessing that Phil would love to sign Westbrook. If Durant stays my guess is Westbrook will too. If that happens 2016 will be important because the pickings are slim after Westbrook. Knicks need to try and add a PG and some more shooters.
Lance would be smart to stick with Fisher even if the price was slightly cheaper. Fisher is guranteed to play him and his role is solidified.
Do the Knicks have bird rights to guys like Lance Thomas and Galloway? I think Galloway is a restricted free agent so likely yes, but what about Lance Thomas? He's been with the team less than 2 seasons and we used the vet minimum to re-sign him in the summer. From what I understand we only have early bird rights. Does anyone know the cap hold for Galloway and Thomas? I'd love to keep both.

you do realize that scott layden was the gm? the same guy who awarded allan houston 100 million?
He can get at least 6 mill per, he's a very solid role player . I'm not just looking at his production on the court, this guy is a professional, carries himself well, and is a solid locker room piece. When you take that into consideration, he deserves it.
I don't why some of you base a person worth strictly on statistics, it's not smart, that's like judging somebody base on their looks.

My point (poorly made as it was) was that we were willing to overpay that much for these guys, whatever Thomas gets will be reasonable by comparison. Thats why I emphasized their contracts. Never would have signed those guys without the Utah connection. Great way to build a team.

layden i absolutely HATED and still do. cronyism at its absolute worst and yes you're probably right that houston and his 100 million dollars are here because of dolan. i can't stand houston either. as a matter of fact there are an awful lot of knicks players and management to hate over the years.

i dont blame players who look for more security/money especially bench players who probably wont get the same chance again. However i would respect even more lance if he took just a small raise to stick around
Knicks will have early bird rights on Lance and Langston. I think Lance will get MLE type money or slightly more.
Love how Lance is performing but the Knicks need to keep the salary cap space for a better player. Over the next 2 season Phil got chances to fill this team out into a championship caliber roster and unfortunately guys like Lance will be on the fence unless they take low dollar amount, like $3M or less. Knicks also got a Westchester guy who seems to be rounding into a decent player who would fill the same low cost role: Darin Atkins.

I was thinking the same thing about Atkins. The W-Knicks have a very good roster. Three guys made the most recent top 25 prospect watch and that doesn't include Thanasis or Trice. Trice made it earlier in the season.
