Knicks · Nets News: Hollins and King Out (page 2)

I think they are going all in on Calipari if they can but Jax would be a good fit there.

KG/Pierce was suppose to provide them with leadership that Dwill & Joe Johnson didnt bring.

Nets gotta be the worst destination for free agents. Poor guys that get traded there and have no choice

i am going to five games at barclays this season. fantastic seats in the corner behind the visitors' bench, about 10 rows back, rim level. i have seen the clippers, and monday it's the spurs. then i get to see okc, the knicks, and the nuggets.

living in brooklyn and being a knicks fan, i obviously didn't get the tickets to watch the nyets. only problem is the noise level and the "entertainment" during timeouts and halftimes which is execrable.

but seeing the nba game from these seats makes watching the nyets and hearing and seeing the entertainment endurable.

Man, I don't like the Nets but I both feel bad and am angry at them. The latter because Boston better not get Simmons!

prokhorov was a childhood prodigy at chess.

Funny how the NETS drama is such a side show, it's gets very little press compare to every NY team. Tat dysfunctional sht that got going on there would be front and center of every paper in the city, not to mention national.

not a fan of hollins' firing though.

hollins the guy who hates analytics? No room anymore for guys like that.

the roster was not his doing. look what he had to work with: lopez, johnson, jarrett jack, bogdanovich are not going to get it done. but maybe in a losing situation the players just stop giving maximum effort and the coach gets swept out with the gm.

and I am sure they took into account what he had to work with and they still realized that he should be canned.

i actually lean towards not caring much for hollins either. i just don't like the idea of having to sweep out a coach because of the ineptitude of the gm. i understand it but i think there's something not right about it.

yeah ... I get that and if hollins was a good coach then it would not be fair. I think that perhaps they realized that he is not that good.

Yeah but that is the big rumor from what I have read. It would be for next year.

He does not have the personally to coach in New York. He is overly sensitive to criticism and that's where Derek Fisher shines. I agree obviously th roster is King and Proko's doing but Hollins didn't help himself. Just a terrible fit. Chalk that one up to King as well. I willing to bet they hire Mark Jackson now. It's a good fit for both. Jax is good coaching a young team that's starting over and building. Any competent GM will see that

Oh right. That's alcertainly a possibility. The return of Cal to the Nets. However if Mark wants the job now I think he gets it

I think Jax would be great. I liked Cal in nj the first time. I think the lockout and some of his guys being traded cost him his job.

jackson's religious foolishness vis a vis homosexuality turned me off in a big way. not too many evangelical christians in positions of influence living in new york.

Three first round picks and the right to swap another. Not sure what second round picks they sent out but I believe there were a couple of those also. That deal buried the Nets.

as i said, this is prokhorov going all in. it's a gambler's mentality. unfortunately for nyets fans the guy is a billionaire and this is pocket change for him.

not a fan of this approach but he is a self-made man and by comparison dolan is pond scum.

Sometimes "Russian oligarch" is another work for "Russian mafia don". I don't know if Prokhorov is _that_ type of "Russian oligarch" but if he is he is likely just as bad as Dolan. Kinda like if Dolan had free reign to deal arms and murder his rivals. Like Donnie Walsh was in that wheelchair cause Dolans goons kneecapped him, etc etc.
