Knicks · Porzingis has turned this team around (page 2)

Just think before the Draft Monroe was the big target and we're so much better because he went somewhere else.

For my part, it's not about the fact that it's actually coming together.

There was no inevitability about that.

For me . . . it was about how it COULD come together.

My only issue is not with people who said it WON'T happen (because that was as likely as not) but rather with people who said it COULDN'T happen ("Triangle is outdated" and etc).

Those are 2 different things . . .

You made your point without bumping lots of old threads.

That's just stupid! I picked 45-50 wins based on how I viewed the talent and how they would come together at some point this season. I was EXTREMELY detailed in my threads on how I positively I felt about this team's ability to compete.

if you honestly took your record predictions for the past 10 years, how do you think you did?

You don't even know how I've been doing with predictions. But that's besides the point. We all know the team was hampered by Dolan's interference in the past. Not everything is about season predictions!!! As I've said many times we talk about far more things than season predictions and on various topics I contribute to the forum.

For instance when talking about the Triangle, which you and others have been disagreeing with me all along!!! I've defended my position on the Triangle and haven't wavered. How's that looking now?

perfect!

Whatever man! Nothing you say can kill the joy I have in how this team is playing right now! They're executing at a high level and trusting each other! It's a reflection of Phil and Fish doing their jobs and the players buying in!

Now you're exaggerating regarding threads! Also if it's not that big of an issue to you if we get things right or wrong, why be a dick about it? You're the one throwing season predictions in people's faces! We all take educated guesses about everything.

It's a Knicks forum so we discuss ALL THINGS KNICKS! I try to add to the convo meaningfully on this forum. No reason to try and diminish what I contribute. If I take the time to study and learn the details of the Triangle and post here why do some try to kick dirt on that effort if they haven't even tried to really learn it?

Here we go again! You did this earlier in the Toure Murry thread and it was an exaggeration of what I actually said. You need to stop paraphrasing me incorrectly! Some were against bringing LT back. They didn't see his value or think he could get better. So why are you knocking me for liking him? This happened with Shved. I didn't just say I like him cuz we signed him. I fully explained WHY I thought he would do well. It wasn't a shock to me that he did. As I've said we talk about many things besides season predictions and I'm not always wrong.

Many things going on to make this a competitive team.

Not sure its worth our time to try to quantify each guy's contributions to the cause of winning.

Anthony's metamorphosis... the additions of Lopez and KP for length, energy, and D in the middle... Calderon coming around on offense...Aflalo as a second option on offense...emergence of Thomas...the energy of Williams, Fisher growing as a coach, etc.

You can say that Melo's change in attitude and unselfishness is perhaps the catalyst, but none of us are privy to what goes on in the locker room or in practice. Watching Anthony communicate on the court tells me he's become more of a traditional leader, though, and not just the "lead by example" type.

I've been involved in sports one way or another for most of my life, and any of you guys who have played serious team sports know the team chemistry thing can be magical at times, but it usually involves effort, sacrifice, confidence that if you play a certain way you will be successful, and a kind of comrade in arms attitude where guys root for each other and have each others back.

You also expect to win when you play. Having some players who you believe can be as good as anyone of a court can be wonderful, but the best teams have players who know what they have to do to win on a particular night, and do it.

This group of Knicks looks like they are starting to drink the Triangle-Aid. Another stepping stone game on Tuesday vs the Celtics, a team that seems to give us trouble.

I was pretty much a .500 record (at best) guy before the season, but I thought we'd come on strong after a slow start as the team came together and Grant/KP got used to the NBA. Signs point to a much earlier rise than I was expecting.

Hopefully the good things continue..

Check around the 12 s mark of this version of the put back and look at the reaction of the Bucks' player as the ball comes through the net.

This is a true "Porzilla" reaction.

KP has for sure improved but he was very good to go from the start.
I can only imagine after KP was doing what he does in a practice a few times what Melo, coaches and the rest of the guys must have thought and how they must have smiled ear to ear.
This kind of talent is pretty apparent, especially to players and coaches.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 1/11/2016 7:24 AM
I agree that KP6 has a lot to do with it. However, PJax built a veteran team of smart high IQ players and it is paying off.

KP is better because of who is surrounding him.

It is a great start and they are a team now. PJax has changed the culture. He deserves much of the credt if not all.

We trade a bunch of second and third level players to sign a perennial all-star who single-handedly drags the franchise out of a backpage fodder hell hole. This creates division.

We make the playoffs 3 years running. This creates division.

We make it to the second round for the first time since Spree left town. This creates division.

The all-star decides to resign here instead of going to any of three proven contenders who are light years ahead of this franchise talent-wise. This creates division.

The all-star player plays incredibly well with a level of true NBA talent that we haven't seen on this team in over 10 years. This creates division.

The UK, where division happens.

KP for sure is the catalyst. His presence alone in the starting lineup forces the vets to up their game.

They see a young rook bust his tail in practice and hustle in games, playing 2 way ball. "If a 20 year kid can bring the effort, then my 31 year old ass betta come to play!"

SAS is going to have to accept hearing this for the rest of KP's All Star career and I get the feeling he will enjoy it. lol
