Knicks · Willy g shooting 67% for Real Madrid (page 2)

Im very interested to see willy play in the summer league if he comes over. Ive only seen highlights but i like his talent
Knickoftime @ 1/15/2016 11:59 AM
I suspect the build-up is going to be counterproductive, in this case.

People are going to expect legit first half/first round talent out of the gate, and it may not be fair.

Assuming he even comes over.

They should do it for shots of 10 feet or better and then come up with a stat for layups or shots inside 10 feet.

and thats why everyone uses or should use TS. FG is a bloody mess.

TS corrects for the distance shots were made from?

Would seem to me that TS will emphasize a player taking/making 3's, but also drawing fouls, which for me usually means driving to the basket or having a good game in the post.

You've heard of 3 and D players...I want to coin my own label, in honor of mreinman:

"3 and Free™" players take a lot of three point shots but also go to the basket and pick up a lot of free throws because of a general tendency for the rules and refs to favor offensive players. I would speculate that most 3 and Free™ players are SGs or SFs, but I have no proof of this.

I expect him to be a solid/consistent but unspectacular player, and I think this is what Phil would prefer. Hopefully he is a poor man's Scola. Does not have Scola's outside game, but should be more effective on the inside, and he is a little more rugged in the post. Not really an above the rim guy, but he has some interior moves and I seem to recall that he has a decent midrange shot, too.

He will be 22 when SL begins next year...I would think he wants to be with the Knicks next year, but maybe someone knows more about this than I do.

Maybe he plays in SL and he and the Knicks make a decision whether he should be here or do another year in Spain...Who knows?

thats for the shout out Walt

3&FreeBees?

seems that free by itself does not connote free throws

reub @ 1/15/2016 2:08 PM
He's friends with Porzingis from what I hear so he might want to come over. Hopefully there won't be any comparisons to KP or he will be viewed as an immediate disappointment. And Willy is free to bring that young point guard over with him too.

Already sent 3 and Free™ to the patent office...

Have to figure the kind of numbers you need to attain the designation...I'm using 5.5 FT/game and about 6 3PA/Game- not a very large list using these numbers:

Harden SG
Curry PG
Isiah Thomas PG
Gallinari SF
George SF
Durant SF
Gordon Hayward SF
Lou Williams SG
Lillard PG
Lowry PG

Would probably have to look at 3PT shooting as a % of total shots- I'm too lazy to do this, though.
