I get why people want Batum, but I don't think Batum moves the needle as much as Conley. I would be ecstatic to add either - true upgrades. Those are both near all-star guys. And let's be honest - if the Knicks win 50+ games and those guys are playing well, they probably would be seen as all-stars.
But again, the major draw is KP and Dad Melo and Phil's culture.

Cap probably goes up another $20mm, Jose comes off the books, if DWill/AA opt in they both come off the books as well. Things are fluid but its not horribly far fetched.

Well i was really just having fun and maybe doing a little dreaming but with some money crunching there might actually be a way to make it work. The cap goes up around 20 mil both the next two off seasons so we could sign Conley this off season with the extra 20 mil and then Westbrook the following off season when the cap goes up around another 20 mil. I realize that this is something that has about a 3% chance of happening and again i was just having some fun and dreaming some but it could be made to work and we also have Calderon's contract coming off the books in 2017 so we'll actually have around 25/27 mil in 2017.
On the other hand... not really sure Conley will leave his BFF in Memphis...

True, but how else is he going to answer that question? He could have said the question is irrelevant because he's not leaving Memphis no matter what, but he didn't say that. Yes it will be hard to leave i'm sure, but he will do whats best for him at the end of the day.
Im suspicious as well. COnley's career started a little slow -- not stat sheet stuffing kind of stuff. Memphis has been patient and good to him. I don't know their cap situation but I imagine it will have to be something unusual for him to leave -- like they can't even come close to other offers, like way, way lower.
