Knicks · ThisMelo Is playing like LebronMelo - This maybe his best game I have ever seen him play (page 3)

Yeah, James just gets them paid.

James is clearly not enjoying the former Knick clowns Shump and JR. He blew a lot of smoke about fixing them and being a great leader...blah blah. Culture and overall ability was the main problem with the roster.

It's still ISO MELO, buried behind the triangle system. The only difference is ISO MELO is now attacking with his head up and eyes on more than just his defender. The difference is he finally has players around him that he trust and built some chemistry with.

Yeah he does still do ISO Melo some but not even close to the way he used to obviously. He was doing ISO Melo last night actually.

Did anybody call it ISO Jordan or ISO Kobe when they played in the Triangle and won championships? The whole system is predicated on movement around your best player and putting him in a place to put pressure on the defense with the threat of him scoring. Triangle without a ball dominant scorer equals just some Johnny Bach scribblings on the back of a napkin. Talent in the right system is what wins championships but without talent all you have is a fired coach muttering about "7 seconds or less"

It's kind of amazing to see the maturation of Melo here. It's like the exact opposite of what happened to Marbury.

Starbury matured in China where he has won multiple chips, has a statue outside the arena, a sneaker brand that is booming & a friggin play about his life story on Beijing's version of Broadway. I guess 3 billion Chinese folks have decided to get in the truck

definitely still ISO melo but now its pretty much all post iso as opposed to face up clear outs followed by a contested 20 footer.

No lie, he is referred to over there as "MarBuLi" which i guess is a phonetic pronunciation of hislast name but still that is truly hilarious.

I would not trade lebron straight up for him right now.

Pretty funny and illuminating that I have been called a Melo ballwasher and I would, in a flat second.

obviously lebron is still a better player but I would have zero interest in trading for him. That would be a gross yankee move.

Yes, ain't that the truth.

again, this is far from the best team that he has played with.

I live 15 mins west of Newark airport. I can be there in 20 mins to pick Lebron up.

Just let me know.

I didn't follow him in Denver much but I think since he has been a Knick this and the 54 win team are the two best he has played on.

and the point is that this is a new melo, not the same melo that just has a better cast which is of course beyond silly.

i think it is a new team, a new coaching staff, a new front office, a new philosophy. I think that to suggest that there aren't a lot of variables in play would be wrong. DadMelo isn't winning without decent teammates. What I found most impressive last night was that when he was angry and frustrated he didnt try to take things into his own hands and force things. To not go back to what you relied on when things are really tough shows true change, trust, and belief in his teammates.

a bunch of "new" things of course but melo's new mindset and attitude shift is a biggie.

ThisMelo has been elite. This is the first season I can look at his box score and not have to confuse his assist tally for rebounds. I think I am going to order his Jersey.

Future is bright. I think it is time for me to change my signature.

Selfish ISO is not the same as creating a One on One in the flow of a motion offense! There's nothing wrong with creating 1on1 looks where the defense has to help and the ISO'd player is looking to take advantage of the D if they give help!

Great players warp a defense as they draw defensive attention. When you can get that great player to use defensive attention to create great looks for his teammates that's when the magic happens. Nothing wrong with ISO when done right.

And again, you got your head handed to you for trying to pathetically maintain this in another thread. Please list off the great players that approximate the combination of youth, role players, bench, KP, Rolo, and even the PG play of the Jose/Grant/Galloway.

No one is saying Melo is the same old Melo. The point is the whole franchise has changed for the better.

Does the mindset and attitude shift change happen if there aren't all these "new" things to make those things happen?

Please tell me who Melo was passing to and then walking back up court confidently before the shot was even let go? Who is Melo passing cross court darts to with any trust?

Is "Phil" and "KP" and "Rolo" and "DWill" and "LT" just ancillary parts that are comparable to anything "else" he's played with?
