Knicks · KD complimenting Porzingis, Calls him rare, a 'unicorn' (page 1)

I think he is coming to NYC
nyknickzingis @ 1/25/2016 6:17 PM
Shame the team has blown a number of leads early on in the season and some games lately - that if we win a few of those we're in the playoffs right now. If we make the playoffs and do something there which I think match up wise we can (in playoffs usually about top 8 guys) guys like Durant would take NYK much more seriously.

Doubt it though. We're just unable to get out of this .500 or less ball and it keeps us out of the playoffs likely this year. Going to be tough to draw a free agent like Durant if you've won 38-41 games and missed the playoffs. Rarely that happens. I think he's taking the 1 year deal and staying with OKC and seeing what happens in 2017 with Westbrook as well. He would be a great fit with Porzingis, Melo and the Triangle. The Triangle having 3 versatile wings like Porzingis, Durant and Melo would be perhaps the most lethal combination of skills it's seen since the Bulls teams with Jordan, Pippen, Kukoc. Dare I say, they'd have potential to be even better on offense.

All I want is this Unicorn nickname to stick

reub @ 1/25/2016 7:06 PM
Does this mean that KD is considering coming here?
Vmart @ 1/26/2016 11:28 AM
Knicks should think about bringing in Beal. I think Phil can sell him on the Knicks and use Kobe/Jordan's greatness to his advantage in recruiting him.

With that said Free Agents rarely leave.

GustavBahler @ 1/26/2016 11:34 AM
A very manly unicorn, no doubt.
crzymdups @ 1/26/2016 11:35 AM
There is no way Durant comes to NY. It would make no sense to have him play next to Melo.

Also, Durant is pretty prickly to the media, and that's in OKC. I can actually see him lashing out at the NY Media a lot.

That's what makes me think Westbrook might not work here either. Both of those guys HATE the media. And they have like three guys following the team. In New York? Those guys would go nuts.

Nope- if he complemented Towns would that mean he's going to the Wolves? It's all media hype to get people to read their shit. How does a lineup of Melo & Durant make sense? You'd have to move Porzingis to the bench. How many shots would he get?

I don't follow other teams too much but I do know that Beal has been hurt a lot and has himself said that he would probably be on minutes restrictions for the rest of his career. Also, he is a RFA.

Beal has some issues with consistency (like AA). Not sure he's going to give us as big a lift as he would cost.

How did a lineup of Kobe and Shaq and anyone else make sense? How did a lineup of Pierce, Allen, KG and Rondo make sense? How did a lineup of Lebron, Wade and Bosh make sense? Funny, those teams managed to get other people shots that mattered and added some chips to it as well.

Anyone force KD to tell the media he liked the pick when it was made and then called his ex-teammate to tell him so? Anyone pay him to compare KP to a unicorn? Why didn't he just grunt and spit at the mics and move on with his day?

How does anyone know what KD's actually considering?

Anyone on here guessed LeQ would go back to Cleveland?

I've heard and read that OKC is alot like a college town that loves it's team. Maybe KD likes that enough to continue hoping something special happens if Westbrook stays or maybe he doesn't. I guess we'll see.

Eh? Shaq and Kobe makes perfect sense- one is a C, one is a SG/SF.

Pierce was a SF, Allen a SG and KG a PF.

Lebron was a SF, Bosh a PF/C and Wade a SG.

Melo and Durant are both SF's, and high volume shooters

Nalod @ 1/26/2016 4:12 PM
Warriors on paper make sense?

KP pf
KD sf/sg
Melo sf/sg
Rolo, C
Jose, PG

Beal is a restricted free agent.
Would require him to force the move, with Washington not interested in bringing him back at the max, which is what he'll get.
On our end, it would require giving Washington something they want in terms of a sign and trade.

Straight up if we try to sign him on a 4 year deal, Washington matches.

I'm thinking of a way that would benefit Washington. Perhaps, dealing O'Quinn, Grant and a 2nd round pick? I doubt that works for Washington, but it does give them some players back for Beal, as opposed to keeping him disgruntled and they likely miss the playoffs this year.

The major bonus of Beal is that he's only 22, he's a good 3 point shooter, he would fit in with the needs of a guard in the Triangle. I think he's a better scorer and shooter than Afflalo, and we could keep Afflalo for the bench and to play some smaller quicker lineups with Afflalo at 3. Especially if we lose Lance Thomas to free agency which is a strong possibility.

I'd max and sign Beal, his max is I think something like 16-17 million starting, and at 22 he has 2-3 years to keep improving considerably. Just have a hard time seeing a trade made. We certainly would have to give up Grant.

I'm sorry, is it me, or does Melo play PF a bit more than occasionally? did you notice who was at center at crunch time last night? You really think the future of the Knicks is having a 7'3" KP at PF?

Do you honestly think if KD came here, there would be no way for him and Melo to coexist with a 7'3" defensive/3-shooting phenom with moves to the basket? Are they both that stupid?

The question isn't what position everyone plays, it's whether starphucques can share the ball and win.

this is where we need some Zen. Winning means sacrifice. winning means learning how to develop other parts of your game

that length next to KP would be phenomenal. Trick is how do we swing this in FA and upgrade our defense at the guard position (which is a necessity)

my two cents

KP pf/c
KD pf/sf (don't laugh because when he's PF someone needs to guard him)
Melo pf/sf (depending on situation)
Rolo

guards??? we need to rethink this and what we could afford after making $$ room for KD. Need defense and basic offensive skills, e.g., hit an open shot

Winning also means (at least in this case) willing to get Jimmy D to sign on for really serious luxury tax spending akin to what the idiot Russian has been doing in Brooklyn the last few years. Was looking at Brooklyn's total the last few seasons. Makes us look like homeless vagrant. Difference for us would be Phil working the cap magic, obviously.

The Homer (Doh!) Dream: Westbrook and KD in orange and blue. With Me70 and KP.

Now that would be some Zen.

Hopefully these compliments don't go to KP's head...

Leave Dieter alone lol. He's just a kid, be grateful that this is the most rebellious thing KP has done since achieving international fame.
