We have Aaron Afflalo to offer and a swingman is exactly what they need, not a redundant PG. Dennis Schroder is a more than capable starting PG which makes Teague expendable.

We'd also send the Hawks $3 million cash while the Pelicans and Clippers would send them 2nd round picks. That'd be a pretty solid deal for them when you consider that Afflalo, Calderon and Ajinca would also be included.

Derrick Williams is the guy the Hawks could use right now. Deal would have to be structured around Derrick and Teague.

If we trade Derrick we can't trade Thomas in the same trade. We just can't.

I think Derrick Williams and Calderón for Teague and maybe Mike Scott gets it done.

Teague would make the Knicks a playoff team.

I disagree. They are a space and pace team offensively and can switch everything defensively. While Derrick is talented, he's not a good shooter or particularly good on switches. Besides, they already have Mike Scott who has a very similar skillset but is a deft shooter.

What the Hawks do need is a starting swingman that can shoot and cover his own position, which Williams has yet to consistently demonstrate. IMO Calderon, Afflalo and picks gets the deal done for Teague. That type of move allows them to get a backup PG (Calderon) to replace the outgoing Teague and Afflalo helps them replace what they lost in DeMarre Carroll, while the picks allow them to compensate for the loss of value from a talent perspective. Getting the picks and the nature of those picks would be the problem though. We'd need to include multiple teams to facilitate that end of the deal.

AA is mostly posting and shooting the mid range off of passes. That isn't what the Hawks need. They need someone to come in and do what D Will has been doing with their starters. Also based on PER DWill is playing better lately than Teague is.

Teague and Wroten thrown into the mix would be excellent, especially once guys get healthy.

Kp, melo, Rolo, teague, Affalo starting

Lance, O'Quinn, Seraphin, Wroten, galloway

Cleananthony Early is coming back eventually too. It would be like getting Teague for free

Carroll posted a TS% of 58% and 60% over a 143 game sample for the Hawks. Derrick Williams posted a TS% of 55% for us over 46 games, which also represents a career high. There just isn't much of a comparison between the two players when it comes to their shooting/offensive proficiency, especially when you consider just how limited a sample you're working with Derrick Williams. Aaron Afflalo, however, has had seasons as an elite shooter with the Magic and a stint with Denver. He is far more likely of recreating some of the Magic that Carroll brought them last season.

Jeff Teague's recent struggles have been the hot topic surrounding the Atlanta Hawks of late. He was asked about those struggles on Sunday by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore and confirmed that he was trying to play through an ankle injury.

"I'm dealing with an ankle injury," the Hawks starting point guard said Sunday. "That's OK. I'll be back."

Teague's scoring average, shooting percentage and assist numbers have declined each month this season. He has bottomed out in January averaging just 10.5 points and 4.3 assists while shooting 38 percent from the field. Teague sat out three games in November due to an ankle injury and has since rolled the ankle multiple times. It is apparently not serious enough to force him from the lineup but it appears to be affecting his lateral movement and has hampered his ability to finish at the rim.

As a result, Teague's playing just 25.2 minutes through 11 games this month with Dennis Schröder often finishing games at the point with the starting unit.

Billups was a key piece to a title run.. we all know that history. Getting talent is the hardest part. It certainly looks like we found some in DWill.

IF you throw in a first round pick in 2018, that's almost a can't say no offer for Atlanta.

this is the game... is this a sell high on DWill before he gets paid and regresses? Or are we seeing the #2 pick in that draft finally coming into his own? Also he's going to cost money... I think a lot of team's eyes have been opened by DWill's play.

I would love to resign him myself. I remember Billups played for like 4 teams in his first five years before Detroit signed him to a MLE type contract much like the Knicks signed DWill. Billups was a key piece to a title run.. we all know that history. Getting talent is the hardest part. It certainly looks like we found some in DWill.

Yeah, I'd be inclined to hold onto DWill. I keep saying this, but he absolutely reminds me of the way Phil used guys like Lamar Odom and Kukoc off the bench as a sort of jack of all trades forward.

His improvement in rebounding is completely unexpected but very nice.

whats the pricetag though? 4/$40mm? Hard to imagine much less based on guys like Shump, DCarrol, Thompson, etc

Alec Burks and Terrence Ross will be making that. So Williams would probably be in the Robin Lopez contract strata.

In return we have a guy who attacks the basket(something we desperately need) and a potential cornerstone player. I would not be too eager to trade all of that away.
