He played 40 last night5--I knew there would be trouble. Its still being smart he can miss some B-B.

It's more serious than that.

no point forward, lets see if fisher tries to run more triangle or...wait i already answered it.

Melo has missed both Memphis games. Conspiracy theory - he's hiding from Barnes?
crzymdups @ 2/5/2016 6:10 PM
Sigh. I don't like the whole part where Melo is playing 40 minutes on a bad knee.

haha why would he need to do that.

CrushAlot @ 2/5/2016 6:14 PM
Ouch. I wish Melo would sit out of the all star game this year. KP as well. Both guys need a rest. I wonder if Thanasis cracks the rotation tonight.

what...? shut carmelo down, please. you know your best player and most expensive asset is hurting and you play him 40 mins coz you cant really coach.

this is going from bad to worse each day!
matter of fact give KP a week or two off as well to regroup himself, he's already played more mins than he did last year.

it's better to protect those two instead of letting something stupid happen.
let the bench players compete for playing time.

Awesome. Also, it might not be a bad idea to sit KP. He has looked spent for about 2 weeks.

I agree. He seems to need a night off. Or a week off.

Now would be a good time to call up Fredette or bring in Wroten. This team needs a spark. It needs some bodies.
nyknickzingis @ 2/5/2016 6:22 PM
Paying Melo the contract he got is looking better by the game.
If the guy can't play big minutes or carry a team anymore, I don't know why the Knicks are keeping him. They can get 3 starters for his money. Get the re-build going sooner than later, because as much as I appreciate Melo's commitment to NY, he isn't able to carry a team like a franchise player yet is paid to be one.

I agree. Not sure what they do to create a roster space though. Do you cut Thanasis? I don't think Sasha is going anywhere. Maybe trade Seraphin for a second rounder if a deal is out there.

This post is extremely ignorant for many different reasons. Your namesake Porzingis wouldn't have had anywhere near the level of success he did without Melo this year, I'm sorry to inform you. And I'm not saying this because I don't like Porzingis, I love KP. But I'm also not blind to what happens on the court like some of y'all.

Melo has been our MVP this season and a top 20 player in the league. If you can't admit that to yourself, it's on you.

Yeah, I'd try to trade Seraphin.

Isn't Thanasis's 10-day up soon?

We need a guy who can play NBA minutes. I really would like to take a look at Wroten.

Melo is supposed to be in his prime, he's making 23, 25, 27, 29 million a year over this contract as a Knick. The team is built with him as the number 1 option. I'm sure in the future they can rest him, but right now we've got to utilize him. Unfortunately as I've said many times, in his physical decline, Melo just can not relied on to carry the Knicks to a high level. We won't really get to another level until KP gets much better and we get another all-star caliber player. This relieves Melo from being relied on as the #1 player on the roster, more like 3 guys equally carrying the load. This way he can rest on 2nd night of back to backs, and sit out when he needs to for a week or two, and also have a lower minutes load. This was exactly my concern when he signed that massive contract. Won't lie, if we don't sign someone major this offseason via free agency, I'd like Phil to move Melo on for a high draft pick and some role players.

This. What was the point to put him through that last night if he was hurt?

Oh no. This is not good news!

I agree. Also, Wroten wants to be a Knick and wants a shot at redemption.
