What is said for public consumption matters to a player/individual. It would be a betrayal to praise in private and downplay in public.

Yes, but please, let's trade Melo for a now deranged and oft-injured Blake, who hasn't managed to do sheehit with CP3 and DJordan. But we are going to trade the best player we have so he can go there and win a chip or two.

I used to like Blake alot, but that's a net negative trade for us at this point in his career.

Time for a true rebuild.

Melo deserves to play for a contender. We are years away. It's what is best for both parties at this point.

Yeah but I doubt Melo goes to BOS, is the problem. It's why I'd try sending him and assets to LAC for Blake and then redirect Blake to BOS for that type of package. Can we just widely dream for a second and picture Ben Simmons and Kristaps being our 4-5 combo for the next decade? How amazing would that be?

If Phil wants to trade Melo, he needs to be direct with him and say he wants to trade him. One clear signal would be to trade Melo's boy, Aflallo. This cat and mouse game where Phil drops hints is never going to get it done.

Of course he needs to be direct with him - Melo has a no trade clause. Any trade would have to be mutually beneficial for all parties.

I think the Blake for Melo thing makes a ton of sense. Blake is 26 and would fit next to KP great on offense. Melo is 31. CP3 is 33. Gives those two a few years to take legit shots at knocking off the Warriors.

in other news...pigs fly and hell freezes over. If you are just making a lateral move, doesn't make any sense to make a move at all. A trade of Melo would need to be for a rebuild and re-stocking of young players. For example - Melo to Orlando for Tobias Harris, Aaron Gordon and a 1st rd. pick.

Not trying to argue though, you can just as easily say my trade scenario is idiotic. Truth is, Melo isn't getting traded by the deadline.

What if you're 33yr old Chris Paul and your best chance at winning anything this season is sidelined with a broken hand. Then would you consider trading for Melo? I think the Clips would.

Melo is a huge cap hit for multiple years, I doubt he's traded until a team does some due diligence. I could be wrong but if Phil was willing to trade Melo now, they might wonder just how bad the knee is doing. Just my guess.

You really think teams around the league aren't paying attention to the Knicks? The reason to trade Melo would be to get Melo to a good team and to start a real rebuild of the Knicks. Of course anyone would look at his knee.

And Melo is 30, not 32. CP3 is also 30, don't know why I thought he was 33.

It makes perfect sense to pair Melo and CP3 - the Clippers would be crazy not to try it.

Paul would want to because he's an FA and doesnt have to be around if he doesnt believe the team can get past GS. Rivers has to be around for the affermath.

Melo is 31, he turns 32 in May according to wikipedia. They would have more time to look into it. I dont see Rivers doing this now because Melo's knee could be worse in a few months and GS will probably be at full strength. They also have to get on the same page.

I wouldnt trade for Melo until I had a more complete picture.
