Beverly got a 4 yr $25 mil deal from HOU, with the 4th year as a team option. First 3 years are $6.5 mil, $6 mil, $5 mil.
Passing on Derrick Williams ($4.4) and Seraphin ($2.8) and committing that money to Beverly would have really made a huge difference. he's shooting the same % from 3 but the defense at the point would have gone from an F to an A.
he was an RFA so HOU would have been able to match, but i think had the offer been timed right HOU would have let him walk since they had a lot of balls in the air.
Calderon is brutal, no way this can continue for another season. going to have to use the "stretch" provision and get him off the team in 16-17.
Maybe Beverley really likes being in Houston that's why he resigned.
Would've been a great signing... but who knows. He seems to really like Houston. Too bad he re-signed before they acquired Ty Lawson. That might have led to him leaving, but he re-signed early in July and they acquired Lawson late July.
Anyways, water under the bridge, unless Houston wants to trade Beverly.

Trading for Lawson just shows their management is dumb. They have point guards they could have used those resources to get a forward.
Did he want to come here? Prob not.
Too many balls in the air? 3 days to match. Rockets would have matched.
Seraphin $ was the room exception and couldn't have been used. If anything it was DWill + OQuinns $.
What we need is someone like the next Beverly. Great D; good enough O. Stable enough
I can't see Phil dumping a ton of money on any pg. If we do so with someone like Westbrook, my bet is they get him to play 2.
While Beverly would have been a major defensive upgrade to Claderon, he really is not the player you want to lock up as your pg. Nice backup in a rotation perhaps but gotta think higher if our ceiling is ever going be beyond .500 which by the way is what Houston is
btw, we have a similar player in Galloway who makes about $6 mil a year less and produces similar numbers without Harden opposite him
Chris Childs/Charlie Ward, anyone?
I think Russ Smith could be an even better player. Let's give this kid a shot!
Houston is 27-26 with Beverly and better players. We blew it with Alex scvhed

Given what we now know...Wonder if this was an early Phil vs Fisher disagreement, with Fisher wanting him back and Phil believing he was more of a pick and roll guy not suited for the triangle?
Yep, we should have signed the restricted FA who didn't want to come here

The way i remember it was Beverley didn't want to leave Houston and Houston wasn't gonna let him go.

It's Shved!
I feel like Briggs is trolling us because he spells it a different way each time. Never the same way twice.

Good point. That's a reasonable contract. Beverly is probably a top 5 defensive point guard in the association; Calderon is the worst. Substitute these two players and we easily have at least 10 more wins if not more right now.

Briggs - why isn't Schved in the NBA? are all 30 nba teams dumber than you?
