Knicks · ESPN's Windhorst: Fisher may have been involved with ex-Knicks Tim Hardaway's GF as well (page 1)

crzymdups @ 2/11/2016 2:13 PM
“Phil [Jackson] failed to tell him that when you become a coach you have to move your dating sites up to the executive level,” “I mean I’m making a joke, but it’s also the truth. It’s now Tinder pro.”

“Correct me if I’m wrong, Kevin [Arnovitz], but Tim Hardaway Jr. had to go on the record to discuss whether he and Derek Fisher were involved with the same woman. I’m fairly certain he had to go on the record and said he had to deal with that. So it wasn’t just Matt Barnes.”

So Fish seemed to have been interested in other kinds of triangles besides the one he was trying to teach the team.

Can't come across as a "high character" guy and be linked to this kind of stuff.

No, it makes all his speeches about character and sacrifice seem pretty thin.

Later in the podcast one of the guys saying that when Fisher's name comes up, words like "slimeball" and "phony" come up.

Wow. just wow.

Goes in direct opposition to what Phil was trying to build.

I know divorce is part of the landscape now, but if you want to preach character and sacrifice and you can't even control your own wick...

By the way, if I'm preaching hard work and dedication to the kids I coach, but I spend lots of time posting here during work...

I also would've been curious to see how Timmy's second season went if he wasn't dealing with a coach who was dating his GF on the side... while married... ?

It does somewhat explain Timmy's weird season last year to me. Too bad, because I think a lot of us would think about trading rookie season Timmy for rookie season Jerian.

You can't make this stuff up. You were right about Fisher, just not in a way any of us thought possible.

In hindsight - remember Melo tweeted very voiciferously when Timmy was traded? He said things like "goodbye brother"? Siding with Timmy over Fisher?

Remember Melo sat out both Memphis games?

Maybe Melo was really not on board with Fisher one bit.

hard to say... he didnt seem happy or even apathetic about the Fisher firing, in fact he seemed irritated. Interesting set of circumstances though

Any way you slice it, the Fisher firing reads as a setback to the building narrative that Phil and Melo seemed interested in creating for this season. I can't imagine Phil or Melo were very happy about any of this. Something must have become untenable for it to reach this point.

I sort of feel like some behind the scenes stuff led to this moreso than the losing streak. I think the behind the scenes stuff may have also had a hand in the losing streak...

Wow. He may not be able to get another job for awhile. Low character moves by a guy that is supposed to be a high character person. Interesting that this didn't come out before.

I vaguely remember hearing whispers about this when Tim was traded. Back then it just read as sort of weird. But with the Barnes thing, it starts to look a bit like a pattern. And something that you could see would make him lose stature in the eyes of the lockerroom and Phil.

well there is upside... Melo improved, KP's game growing, Lance blossoming, DWill being an effective player... there are some positives to this season, and if you consider that Fisher may have been part of the problem than maybe this helps. Who knows.

I have no faith in Rambis. I mean did you hear his press conference? I honestly thought he was stoned. Now I was stoned, but I think he was more stoned. Hope I am wrong and he does well, but Im not inspired by him.

Looks like Fisher-man wanted to sink his fishing rod in other dude's fishing holes.

Timmy Jr chica and I hear even Cleanthony Early's piece!!!

“Phil [Jackson] failed to tell him that when you become a coach you have to move your dating sites up to the executive level,” Brian Windhorst laughed in response. “I mean I’m making a joke, but it’s also the truth. It’s now Tinder pro.” After some more discussion about Barnes and Fisher, Windhorst chimed back in: “Correct me if I’m wrong, Kevin [Arnovitz], but Tim Hardaway Jr. had to go on the record to discuss whether he and Derek Fisher were involved with the same woman. I’m fairly certain he had to go on the record and said he had to deal with that. So it wasn’t just Matt Barnes.”

As far as we can tell, if there was indeed a situation between Hardaway and Fisher, it never bubbled over publicly. During the Barnes fiasco, there was an offhand allusion to rumors of a love triangle involving Hardaway and Fisher (and one involving Fisher and Cleanthony Early) on a small web site called Sneaker Mob, and a few offhand tweets. There were plenty of stories last season about Hardaway Jr.’s being in Fisher’s doghouse on the court (here, here, here), but that’s not altogether uncommon for a young player. Hardaway was traded to Atlanta this offseason.

Scumbag of the highest magnitude...Barnes was indeed justified kicking his ass. Man, imagine he got a taste of LaLa's honey nut cheerios...it'd be first degree coach murder by Melo, not just a firing.
