Love to Boston

Knicks get David Lee (huge expiring), Mozgov (expiring),Marcus Smart, a #1 pick from Boston and a second rounder from Cleveland.

That works for me!

Yep! This trade makes a ton of sense. I wonder if we'd be able to flip Mozgov or Lee to another team that needs front court help.

if mozgov is the back up we can trade seraphin and/or koq for back court help or more second round pick

We'd get a better return if we traded Mozgov and he's a free agent this Summer. I would imagine he'll be more interested in signing somewhere he can start.

The Celtics were going to trade 4 1st rounders to move up for Frank Kaminsky. It's gonna be at least 3 for this, probably 5 considering their getting a star and shedding Lee...

This thing is taking on a life of its own. I'm positive Melo's agent is putting out feelers to all of Melo's preferred destinations and doing everything he can to help grease the skids for a deal.

Phil is likely all ears as well. Everyone can get what they want if they just talk!!!

I'm looking at the picks Boston and Cleveland have available to trade :http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/f...

I think at a minimum here's what I'm asking for. Here's what I'm asking for from Boston: Brooklyn's 2016 1st, Minnesota's protected 2016 1st (will end up being two 2nds), and either Dallas' 2016 1st, one of the other two Brooklyn 1st, or Memphis' protected 2018 1st. From Cleveland I want to get the 2019 2nd that either LA or MN owes them and a future 1st. Don't really care about any players coming back to us other than Smart or Crowder but I'd sacrifice them for more 1st rounders and I'm including whatever other players Cleveland or Boston want other than KP obviously. Would prefer to keep Jerian Grant even though he hasn't shown much of anything.

If this happened I think it would go down the way you described it. Phil is too smart to move Melo for 1 pick or even 2 picks. Ainge has been looking for a trade for a scoring Big for a while now and has probably been trying to move all of them since Boston isn't the best drafting team. Cleveland become a legit contender again, Boston get a scoring big to their team, Knicks got KP and a bunch of Thunder assistant coaches. This team is made for youth and would finally be positioned to get some.

Only reason any of this might make sense for Knicks is that Anthony is 32 years old and has a bad knee . . .

This has Lebron's fingerprints on it, IMO.

Have to figure he is desperate to win another title, and doesn't think Love can help him get it. The losses to GS were wake-up calls, no doubt.

He's great friends with Carmelo, and you figure he threw the idea out to Melo after Fisher got canned. James gets a player he trusts and respects, while Anthony can be the great complimentary player that he is when on our National teams.

Celtics have a pretty good group of players, and they seem to believe that Love can still be a valuable player.

I'd want Brooklyn's pick and a #1 for the next draft, and some of their 2nd round picks. I assume that we would also have to take back some contracts...No?

This trade sounds plausible, and it sounds like it centers around GS' greatness, James not loving Love, and Anthony's desperation with his situation.

To dismiss this rumor outright would be foolish.

I doubt we are getting the Nets pick. I bet its Cleveland's future late 1st rd picks. The best we can hope for is that they are unprotected. Maybe some Boston picks but not this years first when they have a shot at Simmons. I'm fine either way. This is about hitting the reset button and doing it in a realistic manor. I'm sure people thought we'd get more than the 60th pick in 2019 for Shumpert & JR too

The payoff in that trade was getting rid of Smith, who could have been playing with us this year if he had not been traded.

Cavs gave up two 1st rounders for Mosgov, because they were desperate for a center...

Cavs gave up the top pick in the draft and more for Love, who they though they needed.

We got a #19 for Hardaway, because Atlanta believed he could be important for their future.

If this trade rumor is true, The Cavs (a.k.a. Lebron) clearly believe they are a player away (Love) from being able to defeat GS (or SA) IN THE FINALS, and the Celtics believe that Love might allow them to take the next step in the EC.

Cleveland and the Celtics are the teams in need...we would be the facilitator in this 3 way, and we would be giving up our "star," a player we signed to a big contract instead of looking at other players in FA.

We would look like fools if we took back late Cleveland #1 picks, which were probably given up for Mosgov, anyway, so are not available.

Seems to me that we are the ones needed to make this trade go...so we should we benefit. Cavs in a win now mode, and we have what they want...and Boston seems to believe that the Cavs have what they need. We should get as much as we can if this is the case.

Let the RUMORS BEGIN!!

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basket...

Did he change the article or something, because the actual tone of it and what Melo said seems to be the exact opposite of what you're implying. The actual quote is:

Those talks have not progressed. Plus Anthony reiterated on Friday that he has no plans to seek a trade. However, when asked if he’s thought about his future with a losing organization, Anthony gave a cryptic answer.

“Not yet. I’m pretty sure I’ll have that conversation with myself and my family and my team,” he said. “But it’s not a conversation for right now.”

I've been saying we should work out three way deal with Boston for a while. Not sure how he'd fit with Irving or how he'd cope living in Cleveland, but he's friends with JR and Lebron. Might be happier with the Clippers due to CP3 and them being in LA, though with the Cavs he'd probably get further into the playoffs.

However, from what he's said I think he's willing to stay on the Knicks until this offseason and see if we can land any big names.

I'm right there with your thinking about the picks but highly doubt the Celtics would give up pivotal players in their rotation, other than Jared Sullinger. Why would they want to tamper with the group that produced the 3rd best record in the East and the 6th best record in the league since they got Isiah Thomas? I suspect that whatever contracts we get in return would be attached to David Lee and recent players they drafted/acquired who are on the periphery i.e. Terry Rozier, RJ Hunter, James Young, Tyler Zeller, Jordan Mickey, with Kelly Olynk being included in a seperate deal for a rim protector. With the number of picks they have, they can more than supplement value that those contracts do no offer.

I also highly doubt that Timofey is included in the deal to us. The Cavs and Celtics both need rim protectors, which Mozgov offers whereas we already have ours in Lopez....who I wouldn't be surprised to see included in the deal.

But I'd be totally on board for this deal though I doubt Melo agrees to go to Cleveland, even with LeBron.

Exactly- I'd aim high. I'd also want one of their guards- Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley or even Rozier. Also maybe one of their PFs. With Mosgov you could flip him and trade him for further assets (he's expiring and doesn't really fit a need since we have Lopez.

Doesn't make sense for Mozgov to be included in the deal unless Robin Lopez is going to either the Celtics or Cavs, which wouldn't surprise me. Lopez would be an upgrade over either teams' starting 5.

I also highly doubt that the Celtics give up any rotation players. Why would they want to with the 3rd best record in the East? Why would they need to with all the picks they could offer us, with David Lee's expirer?

Sullinger is very talented, but his poor conditioning really annoys me- I spent enough offseasons hoping for James and Curry to report to camp in shape!

Hoopshype is saying there is nothing to it.
In regards to Melo to cleveland. I live outside of Rochester now and was able to get to see my sister in the bronx in 5 1/2 to 6 hours every weekend when she was sick. It was an easy thing to do and they let me sleep in her room if I wanted to. Cleveland is 4 hours away on the thruway from Rochester but not so far from NY that Melo's family would have to relocate if he was willing to commute sometimes. I am not sure that trading Melo is the right thing to do but he wouldn't be so far outside of nyc if he went to Cleveland. He has a lot to think about. I am good with him in NY or leaving if the deal is right.

I'm quite sure if this is really in play this conversation is being had. Melo would be with alot of his friends aka "brothers" in Cleveland.

Personally I don't know if Melo could take Kyrie going one on 5 every other time down.

Still like you said, if this is what he wants I'm good cuz we're going to get compensated. If not were good too.
