Knicks · Fredette mvp of d league all star game (page 2)

How is Lin different than fredette? They appear to be similar talents. They are both slow and trigger happy

Someone else might get to him before we call him up if we take too long especially after shooting so well in the d-league all star game.

That's a good point. Maybe Jimmer finally is ready for nba ball. He still has the question marks but he does deserve another shot. I think the triangle is perfect for him because his biggest knock is being able to play team ball. Running a system can disguise his short comings on offense and maximize his positives.
5 days left till the deadline is over
I don't get this?? The triangle is perfect for him but his biggest knock is playing team ball?? Well that's not right.

Does anyone in the NBA shoot the floater as often as Fredette (?)

Being a rookie for a dreadful sac team who wanted him to play the 2, he is not a shooting guard .
He is a pg who can create for himself and his teammates, can any of our guards do that ? He should be on the team after the deadline.
You need to remember that it's the d-league that he's playing this good in. You know how many players kill it in the d-league or even the summer league but just can't play the same way in the NBA?? Our very own J.Grant was great in the summer league but for us.......not so much.

Just to be accurate, the Knicks are 5 games out and there are 27 games left, but regardless, Jimmer may get his shot after the Deadline. I think that's the only thing holding the Knicks back from adding a guard at this point. Not saying Jimmer is a lock but they will fill that empty spot with some guard after the Deadline IMO.
Yeah i agree. I think they might have been waiting for the trade deadline to see if they can trade for a guard and if they can't then we might see Jimmer or Wroten.

I know Paul and Parker shoot it a lot. Any NBA point guard who is effective in the paint has that shot in their repertoire.
Knicks1969@ 2/13/2016 10:08 PM
Why can't Carmelo simply tell Phil and Mills to give this dude a shot? Would it be too much to ask??? We already have the open spot and the area of need is PG/SG

I'm wondering . . . how much it reveals about a ball player to be able to hit that shot consistently.
There's a certain kind of "energy" about it that seems like something that you can't learn.
It seems like only born shooters . . . are comfortable throwing that up on a regular basis.
I don't know -- just an impression it gives me . . .

No argument from me -- I just don't get it.
I'm hoping that maybe it was Fisher that was blocking the move . . . trying to protect his investment in Grant.
Because if my life depended on the play of Fredette or Grant . . . it would be a complete no-brainer which I'd choose.
To me it's a mystery why Grant continues in the NBA . . . when Fredette is available.

I think the Knicks have more hope that Grant can become a good 2 way guard despite his shaky rookie season. Jimmer will never achieve that level of being good on both ends. There are no guarantees that Jimmer's success in DL will translate to the NBA enough to make a difference. I personally would take a chance but it must say something that the Knicks never brought Jimmer up. We'll see what they do after the Deadline.

Get Calderon outta here and bring this guy in.

Jose has value. He is just not a starting PG. He would be an awesome SG off the bench. He would have to guard slower guys with less talent and he could stick to shooting the open shots that he excels at.

What is ironic, is that Lin would be the BEST pg on this team right now. We all know what Lin did here. Hey, why not give Fredette a chance? If Jose played much better D, then I wouldn't but I think Jimmer can score more than Jose (and in more ways), loves to take it to the hoop, can distribute the rock probably better (Jose and his safe passes). The only thing I am worried about with Jimmer is him hogging the ball too much. But I'm sure if he can score well and get 8+ assists a game, and somewhat play in the triangle, we would be all for it.
TAB@ 2/14/2016 9:19 AM
Jimmer IS a bit of fool's gold, but a lot of teams have guys that get DNP's for the whole year. That being said at the very very very very least I'd want a mostly DNP guy to shoot 92% from the FT line. I know that isn't much, but in the world of last guys on the bench a guy who can come in no question or warm-up needed and save and occasional game is really awesome. I think he can be more than that, but he also isn't more that a heat check guy IMO, which can really help us. He galvanizes the crowd and his team. Even the D-league guys he never plays with seemed to respond.

Exactly....I can understand if we didn't have a need, but we do. You our back court is horrendous
IDK can at least take sashas minutes, but does scoring 35 points in a game no one plays defense at all, a measuring stick. He can get a 10 day contract by 29 other teams, and no ones calling
To me Sasha is NOT the he problem. Jose? Yes
Are you kidding me, since melo tripped over the ref and we went back to more than a 9 man rotation, sasha entered the rotation and we have lost 10 of 11. prior to that we were @500. so how is he not the problem
SJUknicksfan@ 2/14/2016 9:45 AM
Sasha has no right to be in the NBA right now. A Jimmer/Sasha swap seems like common sense to me.

I don't think Jimmer takes Jose's place but he does deserve another chance here or with another team. I don't see Jimmer's circumstances as that similar to Lin's. Lin was a guy that wasn't on the radar and took advantage every time he was given an opportunity (i.e. the Wall summer league game) and later Linsanity. Jimmer has had opportunities in the nba. He has played over 3000 minutes in the league, and was a lottery pick. Hopefully he has figured out what he needs to do to stick and be successful.

Well since nobody has ever done it before then you're probably right on that one since he did just break the d-league record for the all star game. What i'm saying is people on here see a guy and i'm not just talking about Jimmer but they see a guy playing great in the d-league and then there's a thread on here about how we need to sign that guy like he's gonna do in the NBA what he's doing in the d-league which just isn't possible. Maybe i shouldn't say it's not possible cause of course it's always possible but it's still not gonna happen. I still want Jimmer to get a shot or T.Wroten but people shouldn't expect so much from a player by going on what they see that player doing in the d-league.

You just hit on the problem and then went right passed it to blame it on Sasha. We were playing great up until Melo stepped on the refs foot. Not only did that kill our momentum but Melo hasn't been Melo since besides a few games and his knee has been bothering him since. Sasha playing in those games isn't the reason we lost those games, Jose isn't the reason we're losing and not playing well cause we've already proven that we can play good basketball with Jose as our starting point guard.
