In the meantime, revist getting Melo to opt out in the offseason. Stockpile picks and assets. Maybe we get lucky again with another lottery pick. Field a competive young team that might even make the playoffs in the East like Boston did. Even if we aren't lucky to draft another difference maker like KP keep stockpiling picks and assets and go after Anthony Davis big time.
Obviously New Orleans can offer him the most money assuming the Saints owner isn't cheap, but they've never been a stable organization and like Lebron he may want to put himself in a better situation to win a ring and bring New York their first since 73.
I know this doesn't go in line with the rush to overpay Conley and make the playoffs next year but I got time and patience. Anyone else have time or are we all on borrowed time? Build from within. Build a team of young guys who complete every night, stockpile assets and the significant FA's will come.

Lol, was wondering if anyone was going to say something about it. I think that Porzingis will be the better player but if we wanted to win now (stupid decision), trading KP6 (Grant and Hernangomez) for Davis would be the way to go. I doubt that team would be healthy enough to be a real contender but I think it could give the Warriors a run if Westbrook removes his head from his ass.

I'd get Davis by trading KP; Westbrook via free agency.
Try this: trade Melo and Calderon to Bulls for Rose and Portis. Sign Fournier for $10mm. Either Lance or Williams will opt out and let them. You should have enough left over for a $15-16Mm year FA.

Rose is awful, even though he is healthy. I'd need more back from the Bulls than just Portis.
Also, I'm skeptical that Melo accepts a trade there especially having heard they were willing to deal Pau Gasol to ease protection on their SAC pick. It's clear that the Bulls are moving toward a retool with young players, which makes vets like Melo persona non-grata.
I do love the idea of Evan Fournier. I think he's a very good young talent.

The team is so bad so poorly structured that my hope is we make moves that make sense. My goal would be to get kp to 5 and surround him with really smart younger players that fit together Is be aggressive into the next two drafts if it's possible including trading anyone not Ned kp if the price is right. Mainly we need an asset laden deal for Carmelo. 5 years of him hasn't worked and it won't going 4 ward we need for ONCE to be a team that sells before value plummets so it's impossible to answer this right now my number 1 strategy would be to trade Carmelo and gt two good picks between 6 and 20
