He loves the knicks, but we need him to lead with some FIGHT!!! Im good with Melo, but he is not the alpha.
gunsnewing@ 2/24/2016 5:02 PM
Its too bad Phil didn't fire Fisher sooner. If the this continued sucking under Rambis started a month ago Melo might've seriously considered waiving the NTC but because team only had one game under Rambis before the deadline there was still the notion that they would rally and make the playoffs under Rambis. The 2nd game which unfortunately came after the deadline pretty much ended their playoff hopes when they lost to the pathetic Nets again.
Now Melo is stuck here for the rest of the year
gunsnewing@ 2/24/2016 5:35 PM
Just watched it. 2 things..
1)Melo talks to Mills not Phil. We all though Mills is a direct pipeline to Dolan. Does this mean It is more likely that Dolan fires Phil and Melo and his NTC stays or does Phil still have the power to sit down down with Melo after the season and convince him to waive the NTC?
2)Boy that wasn't necessarily a ringing endorsement of Rambis from Melo.
In no way is it a surprise but there seems to be a divide in the organization. Melo/Mills/Dolan on one side and Phil/Fisher/Rambis on the other.
I knew it would be a problem when Dolan forced Mills on Phil. It was Dolan's way of continuing his marriage with Melo and having a name to hang up on the Marquee outside the Garden. Phil never really had the chance to build this team his way from the ground up. Phil wanted Melo to sign for a lot less or leave when you go back and listening to his comments at the time but those things didn't fall inline with Melo's plans of making money. Mills being there gives Melo a direct line to Dolan. And wherever Melo wanted he got from Dolan.
Anyway, either Melo opts out of we let his contract expire and he moves on to a team that offer him the most money. I'm in no rush. Unless Isiah takes over we should be able to continue to stockpile draft picks and maybe a significant FA star in their prime shakes loose

I feel bad for him. He was almost likable this season.
NYKBocker@ 2/24/2016 6:08 PM
I actually want Melo to stay now. Him playing the right way makes him very likable

This is what happens sometimes when you have your cake and want to eat it too. Yea it sucks but it's the reality of where they are at this present time

What is it suppose to just sit there and stale? It's your cake of course you want to eat it.
CrushAlot@ 2/24/2016 6:39 PM
Thanks for posting that. I would much rather hear what he said than read an interpetation. Melo has been criticized for saying the wrong thing at times but he is always very guarded in any response to Berman.

well he does tend to say thing quite a bit. I dont think he deserves too much criticism but at the same time he puts it on himself once in a while

Good question. Good point lol
Your loved ones have to be the ones to your cake away. In this case Dolan! But Dolan is the mom who continues to feed her morbidly obese kid cake and cant just tell him no, no cake for you tubby!

What the heck are you guys talking about?? He sounded just like he always sounds.

He doesn't look defeated. He just looks old.
nyknickzingis@ 2/24/2016 9:34 PM
Why is he cashing 25 million in a year then? It's ridiculous. You trade Paul George for Melo, and the Knicks right are in the playoffs or at least 5 wins better. That's on Melo. He's a guy who has never carried a team well. Billups was the leader of those Nuggets teams.
If he's going to play like he's quit or doesn't care as much, then the Knicks should sit him. No surprise that tonight the best play came without Melo.

You trade Lebron for Paul George and the Pacers might have a chance of getting past the second round in the playoffs.
That's on Paul George.

That's on Paul George.
You can't even compare Melo with George.
One makes all NBA defense and is a true franchise player.
The other is just concerned with his brands and soccer team.

Melo is the 30th all-time scorer in the NBA and made the playoffs his first ten seasons in the league.
Paul George can't say either. Also, all Paul George's teammates hate him and leave the team as soon as they can - Hibbert, Stephenson, West. He destroyed a true contender in Indiana and they're a fringe playoffs team now. Sounds great!
nyknickzingis@ 2/24/2016 9:56 PM
The point is Melo's being paid to be a top 10 player and he's been closer to a top 20/25 player. He's on physical decline, and it's clear as day that he can not carry a team on a game to game basis. He has some great games, but his averages tend to be of a player that can not carry a team to a title or even the playoffs.
When you get paid money to be a team's franchise player, when you get a NTC, you should be able to say that I'm good enough to be a MVP candidate, a guy that can carry a team to a title. I'm not expecting him to be a guy that carries this team to the title, but having watched the last 2 season's it's crystal clear his body is breaking down and he can't go.
What irks me is guys who are smart when they get older they drop weight. Wade and Kobe did this. Duncan even. It's to get themselves lighter to have less load on the knees. Less pounding. Melo's got that same type of physique and hasn't even addressed the physical aspect of getting old.
My opinion on Melo would be completely different if he were making 15 million a year. For what Melo is making and his positioning with the NTC, his play has not been deserving of any kind of compliment.
I'm hoping Miami, Cleveland, Boston, Clippers all look to make something happen in the summer for him. It's our last hope at getting something decent, because right now Melo still has all-star standing in the league and value with his peers like Lebron, Paul etc

i cant feel sorry who chose to pick the cash or winning. i dont knock him if he chooses to take the money. but i cant sympathize for him if he chooses to be in a losing situation
