THAT Had to be the most emotionless game winning shot I have ever seen in my life. Its one thing when the person who made the shot is calm and cool, but its entirely weird when no one one the team showed any emotion at all.
I think the entire team was in the state o shock, melo looked more pissed then happy, Quite frankly it was such a delayed reaction.
There was one other game this season in where jimmy butler hit a and 1 to seal a victory, everyone on the floor was high fives to butler except for rose who walked inches away from butler who was walking to the free throw line, and rose didn't even acknowledge the dude at all, like u walk be a complete stranger..clearly those 2 don't like each other.
you can do two things here.. you can be a hater and make stuff up... Melo was mad he didn't take that shot, it means this, it means that, bla bla bla
Or you can see it for what it is.
A team playing out a lost season with a lot of frustrated guys. They won a game against a terrible team and nobody cares about the outcome. Its just blue collar time for the Knicks. Go out and do your work. There isn't much emotion or excitement left. Beating the Lakers on a shot from Jose being a season highlight is really a low light in perspective. Players know this. Guys are human. Exhausting season with not much joy. Hitting that shot vs. the Warriors and guys would be pumped and excited to spoil. The Laker game meant nothing which explains the lack of emotion at the end.

yeah that was my reaction, loss season, a game we should have never let come down to that, and a kind of "who cares attitude" which is really really sad.
I think Calderon is just worn down by the criticism here and the losing.
My first thought when he made it was that he must have thought "man, I wish this could've been the San Antonio shot, back when this season actually mattered."
Meaningless game, ultimately meaningless shot. Jose is playing out the string for a team whose President basically just announced he was putting Jose out to pasture this summer.
If they jumped up and down like they won a championship then guys will be clowning about how pathetic we are.
Veteran leadership. Perspective. Still time on the clock. Gotta get back on defense. Timeout was called. Get back in the huddle. Cup tap each other after the win.
Also, that was a broken play, right? It was supposed to go to Melo, right? It looked like whatever they intended to do, they botched. Calderon got lucky. But what is luck in that moment when right now the guy is probably feeling hella unlucky having to carry water in a triangular pail for a loudmouth fanbase and media corps.
Celebrating skill and execution is one thing, celebrating dumb luck while you're in the arena of your team's president's team president fiancee as part of the Kobe farewell tour... and maybe a Phil Welcome Back Tour? This whole team is all kinds of fucked up.
Anyway, +1 to the meaninglessness of it all.

Sad that the season is lost and that is reality? Yea man that's why there was a non-celebration
Got to go with EnySpree on this one.
Maybe guys just figured that there was still time left in the game? Clock could have been reset a bit to give the Lakers a little more time, so you still had to think about the game not being over, technically.
I know that when I coached, or even played sports, I did not celebrate until the event was officially over or there was no statistical way my team could lose.
I remember in a big HS FB game, my teammates were talking on the sideline about where the party was going to be as we were up by 9 pts with less than 4 minutes to go.
Other team scored, we fumbled a punt, and they scored again...and we lost our change to finish first.
Going crazy over a big shot in a game against the Lakers during this season would be like a D-lineman doing a sack dance after hitting a QB while his team is losing by 40 with 30 seconds to go.
Would have been different if Jose had hit that SA game ender...given where the team was and the setting, that shot and win would have been worthy of some big emotions.
calderon is 2 for 2 on game winning shots this season, he ran a PnR with lopez (forgot who we played) earlier in the season..melo takes the worst game winning shots, there not even remotely close..

The spurs game never happened?

That is the only game winning shot I can remember him attempting.

It was against the hawks..seems like a long time ago, but it was 7 wks ago

The Knicks players are somewhat desensitized about loss and win.
Score was tied and it was a shytty game. Jose acted like he done it before. I thought it was cool.
That, or Jose was in shock.

Can't believe the "Prime Melo thread" crew hasn't descended on this thread yet...

Please stop making everything about Melo. He's irrelevant to the NBA and to the Knicks future. Ok partially relevant if he can fetch some first rounders. That would speed up a true Knicks rebuild somewhat.
