The situation there is not good. LeBron hates his teammates. Carmelo is stuck here losing. LeBron loves Carmelo. Carmelo loves LeBron.
Both players got 2-3 good years left.
They are naive enough to think they can be a dynamic duo. This isn't rocket science to see happening. Melo will waive his NTC. La La will let her man be happy. The boy can stay in NY schools.

It would have to be Love or Thompson. Either we take one of them, or flip them as part of a 3-team trade. Would likely be Love.
would Kyrie be toxic for Kristaps development?
Miami, Cleveland, Boston and Clippers all have moves to make.
Boston wants Love. Clippers should want Melo. Miami Needs Melo as third wheel.
Cleveland has the third best record in the league and should have a pretty good path to the finals. If so, we severly underrate a player who has led his team to five straight finals, and now six.
But if not successful to win a chip then Cavs are then motivated? Perhaps, but too soon to tell. If the reach the finals how close where they? My take is a healthy love and Kyrie would have given Warriors a much harder time. Lebron was amzing to carry them as he did. He damn near had them down 3-0!!!
Lets do a 3 team trade with Clev and Denver and we get back JR Smith, Shump, T.Mozgov, D.Gallinari, W.Chandler, and a couple of 1st round pick and the right to swap 1st round pick in 2020.

Honest question, what is really happening to their team? I don't see much. They are going to coast to 58 or so wins like lebron's teams do each season and be the favorite to return to the finals. Even if all was going great there, they wouldn't be a favorite over GS or SA to win the title, so the problems there seem very minor in the grand scheme of things and have no effect on where they will ultimately finish.

There is some parity in the East, but to see a Cavs team that is relatively healthy with 20 losses and only a one game loss column lead over Toronto, is surprising. Most of better teams in the East have issues, and if I had to bet, I would still say that the Cavs will come out of the EC, but I could also see them going down in the second round.
Maybe James pulls them together...I don't know- but I don't think this a team that is guaranteed to reach the NBA finals.
They just don't have a great mix of talent on their team.
Irving, literally dribbles out the shot clock every time he touches it, Thompson can't do anything but rebound, shumpert can't do anything but defend, JR either shoots you in or out of a game and Kevin Love has never been used properly, not to mention the injuries they will deal with year after year.
Unfortunately he can never leave Cleveland, because he would have solidified himself as the greatest player ever if he ever game to the garden and delivered a title.

The Cavs are the team that James created...not only pushing for them to sign or pick-up this or that player, but pushing their head coach off the bench.
I don't think they've been special this year...for LeBron, that would have been a team with losses in the mid-teens.
Maybe they turn it on in the playoffs, because James can't be as dominant all the time during the regular season...we will see.

This should be it's own thread; Lebron and his player option comes to NYC. Before someone starts talking about trading straight up for Moz.

Truthfully I think if you swap Melo for Lebron both teams would be much happier.
Kyrie needs the ball and would have the power to dictate offense the only way he knows how to play. Love would be better for it cuz now you can feature him. Melo would be free to shoot every time he gets it if he wants. That cleveland team would flow so much better.
Placing Lebron in Melo's shoes would probably make us a playoff team. Lebron needs the triangle to add years into his career. He's working too hard. The triangle would simplify things and make him the primary facilitator as the basketball gods intended
