He is great but... but he is one of many great PGs.
He is in top 20 list for sure and this 20 are kind of same level.

20 are NOT the same level!

Maybe.

Oscar?

Steph?? Marbury or Curry? Marbury is a joke, Curry has really only 6 seasons. Best of all time??? What are you smoking?
Read my post. It says in terms of peak play...
Why would I bring up Margury in a G.O.A.T. PG competition?
It doesn't matter how many seasons Curry has played because one I said peak play. He's an MVP, he has a title, he's leading a team on pace to breaking the All-Time single seasons win record, he's averaging 30/5/6.5 on 50/40/90 splits, he's on pace to break the player efficiency rating record and having one of the best seasons in terms of win shares. He's the greatest shooter of All-Time, one of the greatest ball handlers ever, the man is an offensive force of the highest order.
Even if I hadn't said just peak play off an MVP and title+records he's set, Curry has a better case than most of these guys being named in here. Do you realize how transcendent of a player he is most of these guys in here were never even top 3 players in the league let alone the best like Curry is considered now.
I was negligent about Isiah. He was better than CP3
Hard to quantify. Magic was great, but he had Two HOF in their prime with him. Isiah was the driving force of the Bad Boys.
Stockton had Malone, but no third star.
Im not taking anything away from Magic, but great PG's are greater when surrounded by great players!
If you go by numbers, you can argue Chris Paul is a top 10 all time pg. Greatest? He's got to win something. He's never won anything except a gold medal in world play. I would put quite a few players ahead of Chris Paul.... the biggest plus for Paul is his longevity. Still I can't remember anything he's ever done that stood out.... not even one

I agree. Not all is his fault as he did play for the hornets so perhaps he is in the second tier which is pretty darn good! The Kidd's, Stockton, Ewing, Barkley, etc did get to finals. CP3 had great talent, just not fortunate to have been on a good enough team.
mreinman wrote:I know that knick fans love to beat him up for numerous reasons but in my book I think that he still may be the best PG of all time or at least top 3.He never won a ring but neither did Malone and Barkley. Sometimes its not in the cards.
I am surprise Stockton is not number 1 in your book

Great advance stats in a system that made Deron Williams advance stats look great

I agree. Forgot about Isiah. He was a great, great player! Oscar was before my time but def. would take Magic and Isiah before CP3. Msybe some others.
Oscar. The big "O" averaged a double double in a year, I believe.
Hell NO!!! and he is a dirty player on top of it!
In the discussion (on no particular order).....
Magic
Clyde
Oscar
Stockton
Kidd
Isiah
CP3
Cousy
Pistol
West
Curry
Parker
Honorable mention (KJ & The Glove)
I would also argue that if LBJ chose to be only a PG he would be at or near the top of this list

Oscar?
possibly but I never saw him play so I can't judge him. I guess we are judging in the since the clyde days.
Some guys that need to be mentioned are Bob Cousy and Nate Archibald. Nate lead the league in scoring and assist 1 year and Cousy was the quarterback of that Celtic dynasty. Of course Cousy was out of New York.

Isiah is nowhere close to cp3. How can you say that? What was Isiah better at? Can't think of anything. I think that Stockton was better than Isiah.

so I guess that we can assume that stockton would have also stunk if he left like deron?
weak sauce.
stockton is one of the top PG's to ever play and obviously very underrated seeing how he does not get respect for some reason.
