These rumors are based on a story Berman made up earlier in the year before he realized the out-clause isn't until after next season. These current rumors are now based on a Sportsnet article. Have you ever heard of Sportsnet? No, me neither.

I think Phil will leave next year, and I think that's for the best- he's nearing the end of his life, he should spend it somewhere sunny that he enjoys, with his family. I will be annoyed, though if he hires someone like Rambis over Thibs and then leaves a year later.

I can't stand the ny media. We can't win in this environment. Phil has only been here for 2 years. He's on a5 year deal. He's going to leave eventually by default. The dude is in his 70s. He might drop dead of old age for all we know. I'm sure Phil is planning an endgame....but not before he finishes what he set out to do.

Making rumors like this is a media person's way of expressing what they want without putting there necks on the line.

I don't care about any of this so long as Jackson doesn't do what Grunwald, Walsh and a few others have in the past and that's screw up the Knicks future in trying to make some noise in their tenure. We've got Porzingis, Grant, Lopez, some draft picks in 2017, Melo's still an all-star and we've got enough room (as of now) to sign 2 star free agents in 2017. That's all I give a damn about at this point. Any moves we make in the immediate won't mean much - what we can't screw up is the longterm potential of the franchise to keep getting better.

The Knicks don't have enough cap space to sign one star, how exactly will they sign two into 2017?

Knicks could have enough cap space to sign 2 FA's. It's all dependent on what Phil does with contracts. We don't have a lot of long contracts. Knicks cap situation is not bad at all.

Ummmmmmm we have enough money to sign two stars in 2017?? Did you see this in a dream because we absolutely don't have that kind of money in 2017. As far as i know we have the cap rise money and that's it which will be around $20 million just like this off season.

If Afflalo and Wilkiams part and we stretch Calderon isn't that $18 over the $18 we have.
$36 million is a lot of backcourt. Batum & Rondo.
