Musical legend. I know a lot of you have caught yourself singing his songs.

Friend of mine just saw him play about a week or so ago in Toronto. Impromptu concert where he sat at the piano and played and sang for a couple of hours. Reportedly an amazing show, Prince was on her bucket list.

I have no idea. But whenever someone dies instantly and there's no immediate obvious cause of death. Especially someone who travels often.. I think "bilateral saddle pulmonary embolism" which is a lung blood clot which kills instantly. of course this is careless speculation

RIP

Phife, David Bowie, Chynna, Pearl Washington, now Prince?!!?

Life is too short.

I saw him in @ MSG back in the early 90's (it was right after he dropped purple rain) HANDS DOWN, best concert I ever seen in my life. And to think, at the time I only new a handful of his songs

BRIGGS @ 4/21/2016 2:57 PM
wow seems like its just a bad period of time right now. Seems like he was on and off sick recently.
nixluva @ 4/21/2016 3:05 PM
As a Musician and Songwriter this man was a MASSIVE influence in my life. I was into him before he became a big star and have all his actual Wax Albums from the beginning. I of course went to see him in concert as well as the many groups he put together back in the day. Just a huge loss.
BRIGGS @ 4/21/2016 3:08 PM
Just read that he had a serious emergency trip to the hospital last week and was sick for several weeks before that? So something horrific was brewing and they didnt catch it.

Ughh this makes me sick plain and simple. What can you do? In 200-250 years they will have vaccines that extend life a great deal but no one on this Earth will know it.

Or more likely he new he was terminally ill and decided he wanted to carry on as best he could

yellowboy90 @ 4/21/2016 4:23 PM
Sad news. God bless his friends and family.
fishmike @ 4/21/2016 4:38 PM

" . . . likely he [k]new he was terminally ill and decided he wanted to carry on . . . "

Yes, that sounds like a Prince thing but I'd guess a stray illness is more likely.

Papabear Says

As me being a producer, writer, arranger, I new of Prince when he first came to Warner Bros. He is one of the greatest musicians of our time. Great song writer, great arranger, great producer. Kids majoring in music today will be studying about the life and times of Prince like they study Bach, or Beethoven. Prince was a genius.

Timberwolves and Lynx Statement On Passing of Prince

Posted: Apr 21, 2016

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The following is a statement from Timberwolves and Lynx Owner Glen Taylor on today’s passing of music icon Prince:

“Today we lost a local icon, legend and musical innovator. Prince represented Minnesota with grace, passion and a hunger for helping others. Over the years be became a huge Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx fan, attending numerous games and even treating our Lynx players and staff with a private concert at Paisley Park after winning the WNBA Championship this past fall. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy, especially the Prince family."

Heard some other stories on NPR about how he was a pretty good neighbor with the people in Minnesota.

Sad day.
