He took a better deal. You would have done it differently?

He would stay in Charlotte but if New York came calling with more money and a starting position, he would take New York's offer and New York wants him back.
New York wants Jeremy Lin back. I'm not making this up. This is fact. New York wants Jeremy Lin back and it's going to happen.
Honestly, you are obsessed with Jeremy Lin and it clouds your judgement- you are genuinely making this up, though I'm not sure if you're aware of it or not. We've all had Knick players we loved and hated to see traded or leave the team, and we've all hoped they'd come back but most of what you've posted on this thread simply isn't true- you've even back tracked on your claims that he's all about winning and would never put money first (because he already has!)

He followed the money in the past so you are probably right. But he was in a bad situation in Houston and a bad situation in LA. He found a place where he fits and has an important role. He might be wise to stay in that place this time.
Lin never followed any money.
He would have stayed in New York if the organization hadn't asked him to go shop around the league. You know that as well as I do.
If Knicks were serious about Lin, they would have just re-signed him.
Don't give me any of this 'follow the money' talk.
also, I was the only one on this forum that said Lin was going to get traded at the end of 2012 and everyone including the Moderator scoffed at me.
Rockets needed to send a first round pick out with him to dump his contract. I believe he was the 4th highest paid point guard in the league last year.
Was that his fault?
He outplayed his contract in Charlotte.
New York is going to get Lin back next season.
This is a fact.
No, this is a hope you have. The definition of a fact is:
a thing that is known or proved to be true.
"the most commonly known fact about hedgehogs is that they have fleas"
synonyms: reality, actuality, certainty, factuality, certitude; More
Do you not understand the difference? You're setting yourself up for bitter disappointment.

Now sufficient time has passed, I get why Lin (why not cash in) did what he did and Dolan did what he did (it was a dick-move by Lin)
I think he'll end up on the Sixers, it will allow him to be reunited with D'Antoni and have a more prominent starting role again.
At least the putrid reasoning and pathetic, desperate Lin Love in this thread explains his other threads...
So hey, do you prefer the spiked hair or the man bun?
LMAO...our best point guard. For two whole weeks. Unfuhucking believable.
He loved NY and God so much he went to Houston for money and got outplayed by flotsam for two or three years.

Er, Lin didn't get traded.
Too funny.
Lin thrives in a pick and roll heavy offense where he is the main ballhandling option to start an offense. In NY he has to share the ball with Melo, and the Triangle offense requires him to give up the ball very early in the offense or receive it coming off the ball. Sorry. Bad investment in my book.
He took a better only deal.
Knicks are responsible for Lin leaving. They told him to go out and find an offer instead of just offering him a contract.
If they'd handled it better they could've kept him.
I wish they had, but what's done is done.
That's Melo's lowest moment as a Knick and it has come back to bite him repeatedly. Melo should've helped make that happen, but we all know he was threatened by Lin. And I'm saying this as a guy who likes Melo.

Can you tell me with how Lin has played in total since he left, how this has bitten Melo repeatedly? Was Melo betting money on Houston or the Lakers getting a chip? Was he going to get bonuses if Patrick Beverly or Toney Douglas got cut? Maybe you think Lin's time with the Lakers was painful for Melo because Kobe couldn't stand Lin? Maybe all those articles entitled "Why Jeremy Lin Sucks So Bad Now" hurt Melo's ability to perform here in NY?
Also, can you let me know how the memory of Lin's stellar playoff performances with us has also been detrimental to our Notional Team Cancer?

I think you can make a strong case that over the past three or four seasons since he left, he would've been one of the best, if not the single best point guard on the Knicks. He had a clear role and success here, even under Woodson. It took him a while to find a good situation again in Charlotte. Rockets was a bad fit because Harden runs the point and controls the ball so much. Lakers were just a hot mess. Charlotte is well coached and has a good plan.
But overall, really not interested in having this debate! It's done!

You are right there; you have nothing to argue or debate with other than 15 minutes of fame here that he parlayed into 20MM, a mystical 4 year plan and pointing out that Lin would be the best PG on a team with little to no backcourt to speak of.

So you took a guess and got it right which we all have done.....good job.
I didn't take a guess.
I knew just based off of Coach Woody. Linsanity was no more after D'Antoni left and the playoff that followed where Lin was 80% able to return...
I knew Lin was gone as soon as Coach D'Antoni resigned. I didn't take a guess. I made that prediction long before the playoff started and one of our moderator said that I was being silly and that Lin is going nowhere.
A bunch of other members also chimed in and said it was impossible for Lin to go somewhere else.
You didn't know so you had no facts about it so it was a guess which you can call a prediction but no matter what you call it you didn't know anything so you guessed on what you thought would happen and it happened so congrats on guessing correctly.

This is a fact.
How can it be a fact if it hasn't happened?? Please explain that without any untruthful talk??
It's a fact because Lin will return to New York with a bigger salary and a starting position.
Charlotte will have to give Lin a reason to stay.
I'm sorry but "Lin, you can continue to be our back up point guard next season and keep doing what you're doing at 2.2 million." isn't going to fly. If Charlotte wants to insult Lin with a 2.2 million contract while they were giving Lamb far more and who were less than instrumental this season, then Lin has every reason to walk.
It's not a fact. Do you not understand what a fact is?? I apologize if you don't cause i'm not trying to make fun of you but you obviously don't know.
Lin did great and the only way Rockets could get him was to overpay. The system worked.
Very happy he got his money, and very happy we did not match it.
It was not a dick move, the kid worked his arse off and got an opportunity to shine! Melo was right to say the contract was nuts. It was.
I like him off the bench and I'd welcome him here but at a price that makes sense.
Its what PHil values him, not us Internet Gm's.

I am wondering what you are saying is Melo's lowest moment? He was with team usa when he commented on the contract offer and like most things if seen in the context of the interview it wasn't a horrible thing, just an initial reaction. The interview was played during a summer league game. Are you saying his comments were his lowest moment or that he somehow had a role in the poison pill deal?
Andrew wrote:He took a better only deal.
Exactly - ONLY deal anyone offered him, including the "we will match any deal you get" Knicks. The amount of revisionist history on this thread really shows how insecure some people are.
Lin and any good starter worth his salt would and should ask for 10-12 mill MINIMUM in this new cap. thats probably what Lin will earn
now why Lin would come back to Dolan who doesnt like him, a triangle offense which favors ball movement over PNR (his strength), playing with melo who didnt respect him and living up to LINSANITY....i doubt he returns to ny (i can see brooklyn though)
