Knicks · Is Phil Waiting For a Spur Assistant??? (page 1)

mreinman @ 5/6/2016 11:23 AM

Damn!! Phil is a genius! How cool would this be?

fishmike @ 5/6/2016 11:25 AM
would actually be super cool. I wonder how that plays out. I don't believe he has to wait to interview though, or maybe he has to ask Spurs for permission.

If old school phil pulled off a branch ricky move like that I promise that I would STFU!

wargames @ 5/6/2016 11:26 AM
idk what the hell Phil is waiting for but I know its not spur assistant
mreinman @ 5/6/2016 11:28 AM
this is why he is hyberzenning in Montana ... he is preparing himself for one of the most historical moves in sports history.

Her team won the Vegas league? Is that right?

I wonder how she is doing on the Spurs bench these days. Haven't heard much and it's surprising we have not had more articles and such on the first female coach in the NBA?

reub @ 5/6/2016 11:38 AM
Is she actually good though?

You know what, this would be a very Phil-like move and it'd be awesome

yes. Read about her career.
I would be excited based on that, not the female aspect (she's got a killer tush though)

It's not hard for me to wrap my mind around Phil considering something like this... it isn't hard for me to think Dolan would love the backpages hiring Harmon would bring... it is extremely difficult for me to think that Becky would get in the truck and come to MSG after the Anucha saga. I would have doubts about the organization if I were her

good points all around. There would definitely need to be some soul searching there. But to be the top coach under the tutelage of Phil with KP on board would be an opportunity that she would think about for a long time.

I think Phil does want to mentor whoever is the coach.

oh please...that Anucha Browne fiasco was such bull crap. This is a woman who let success get to her head and when things didn't go her way, claimed sexual harassment...there is a reason why she couldn't find work in the NBA again.

If it was new york we'd be hearing all sorts of crazy shyt about having a female on our bench.

he has to ask permission & can do it - Luke was interviewed and already has a job.

The only thing Phil could be waiting for- besides to be stuck with Rambis as the De Facto choise- is another HC that is coaching a play off team that might get bounced and that HC fired.

This thread isn't a rehash of Anucha.

Still better than Rambis, I'd give her a shot if Vogel and Blatt fall through the cracks.

For Becky's sake I hope not. This isnt the best place for her to land her first head coaching gig. She should stay in SA. And be groomes to take over when Pop retires. SA is the best org for her to start her career.
MaTT4281 @ 5/6/2016 1:18 PM
Does being from the Popovich coaching tree help or hurt her case? Seems like it would be a plus on any coaching resume, but there is definitely ego at play here as much as I am pro-Phil. Ever since Phil came to NY, there was talk of him wanting to build up his own coaching tree.

I would fully support a move like this, and wouldn't rule it out of the realm of possibility, but I'd wager the thought at least crosses Phil's mind.

she would own NY and she would "attract" free agents

Re: "attract" — a sly joke here? FYI, you do know what team she plays for, right? And I ain't talking about Russia.

She used to do some commentary with Al Trautwig on MSG before she got the Spurs gig.

She is from Big Sky Country. Could see eye-to-eye with President Zen. But she is part of an incredible organization right now. I agree with NYNY on this.
