Knicks · Shaw doesn't expect to interview for the Knicks job because Kurt is here (page 1)

Brian Shaw told ESPN's Hannah Storm that he doesn't expect to interview for the New York Knicks' coaching vacancy.

"Kurt Rambis is there," Shaw said on SportsCenter, explaining why he doesn't anticipate being interviewed. "He's very adept at running the triangle and if Phil Jackson wanted a coach that's going to run that system for him, he has a guy that's there, that he has confidence in. So I don't see him bringing in somebody else who has the knowledge of that system when he already has somebody there."

Jackson has made it clear that he's committed to running the triangle, so Shaw's comments suggest that Rambis could be the Knicks' next head coach.

Ok, all he's saying is if Phil is gonna go full triangle then why wouldn't he just stick with Rambis instead of bringing in a different guy that runs the same system.

Absolutely. Also, I think I read somewhere that Shaw and Kurt aren't simpatico.

I agree with shaw. Why replace one stinky triangle disciple with another.

AKA puppet..I need 99% involvement, my way or the highway.

You don't deviate from the triangle, you don't add nothing to it, you don't take nothing out of it, you do it as I say. I'll run the practices, you'll run the shoot arounds. I just need you to keep the players focus, that's all.

Now where can we get coach to agree to that, well....I think that would be Kurt rambis, except, he can't keep the team focus, and they won't play hard for him.

So, phil ponders the situation, If i hire KR, the players will not take him serious, FA are not coming here to play for him, even he i through in one of my rings to sweeten the deal.

If i hire a guy like vogel, or blatt who only seem to be slightly simpatico it's going to very difficult to be 99% involve, can't do that with establish coaches, at some point where going to bump heads.

Whatever he does, he has one more shot at it, and he better make the right move, cause everybody is watching .

He's fired 2 coaches in 3 seasons and now your bringing in your BFF, who has the worst winning % in the league. Not to mention the 17 win season already on his knicks resume.

The only thing Phil is concerned with is how best to help this team win. It's not really about anything else. All this BS about him trying to prove something or wanting a puppet is nonsense. No one that has led his teams to 13 NBA Finals thinks like that!!!

So whatever Phil decides it's going to be based on what he believes gives this team the best chance to win. He's 110% dedicated to this or he wouldn't care who the coach is, if he wasn't going to be here. What you miss in all your bytching is that Phil wants a coach he can get along with only because he's not planning on running out of town. Otherwise why would it matter so much that he has a good relationship with the coach. You'd only care if you were going to be here long enough for that to matter. So let him do his damn job!!!

I am hoping he is in the dark and talking nonsense.

I really think Phil is playing this close to his chest because of what happened with Kerr.

Even the nonsense from the Grizzlies saying they won't get into a bidding war for Vogel is reminiscent of how GS swooped in and got Kerr. They really liked Kerr and offered him the same amount the media said NY offered and a better team to get him. Right now Vogel is the top coach available and the grizzlies seem to like him.

The best thing to do is be discreet until the deal is signed to avoid a repeat of GS. If the media knew Phil wanted Vogel all we would be hearing is how great Vogel is and how other "better" teams should try to get him before NY.

Also after what happened with Fish I also think he needs to make sure he and the HC are on the same page. It could happen with Vogel (the respect from him for Phil seems genuine)but it's not going to be a quick process.
