No the best player on the team shouldn't have a say that right is reserved for those that are the best in the league.

Right. When Tony Wroten was the best player on the Sixers, I'm sure they were all waiting to hear what he had to say on roster or coaching decisions! LOL

Melo should be allowed to voice his opinion, but really what qualifies him to be making high level management decisions? I'm not even sure Melo is fully aware of what Phil's overall plan for the Knicks is, so how could Melo know what is the right move or not?

ah ... wroten best player on the sixers vs. melo best player on the knicks - yup same thing.

You missed the point then. Being the best player doesn't necessarily mean you should have influence on roster or coaching decisions. Melo is our best player but he isn't Jordan or Lebron either. There are different levels and Melo is a good player but what qualifies him to be a decision maker in such things?

you tried to make a point comparing wroten and melo ... fail

melo has a say because they are stuck with him and he is eating a huge pct of our cap and the owner likes him here cause he is making him a ton of money ...

So I can see a bit of a diff between melo and wroten - Just IMHO perhaps

oh ... and wroten being the best player on the sixers? I like what you tried to do there ... sneaky nixluva heheheh

Melo got zero say. He loved Woodson, gone. Loved Shump, JR, THJr, gone. Wanted Knicks to draft Shelby, nada. Would rather have had more player-ready draftee than KP, nope.

Melo has a NTC and the only thing he has a say in is if he stays in NY. And even if he wants out, NY has a say in when and where and for how much, it's a 2-way NTC.

You have no idea if he is speaking to Mills and others and if he has anyones ear.

A pissed off melo not willing to accept a trade and breaks the triangle whenever he wants is a major problem for phil and rambis.

Melo knows phil has a problem and that is why he is not shutting the fuk up. he knows that phil can't shut him up or move him.

Regarding my Wroten comment only you would think I was comparing Wroten and Melo. The only point of comparison was that neither had the clout to demand a say in team decisions. That was the only comparison. Just saying someone is the best player doesn't mean they are worthy of decision making clout.

Who is Melo talking to? You have to go with more than what you see in headlines.
During the event, Anthony sat on a stage with his business partner Stuart Goldfarb and answered questions from a host. The Knicks star only granted interviews with business and finance outlets and declined through a spokesperson to speak to some team beat reporters. A spokesperson said he wasn’t asked many questions about the Knicks, and didn’t say much about the coaching situation.

Sure Melo could cause trouble but what does that gain him? He's pretty conscious of his reputation and Brand. I doubt he ends things in NY in an ugly manner. He is not in a strong position to make any demands. All Melo can do is ask for a trade!

All you did is describe how Melo could cause trouble as I said he could do that but what would that benefit him since it would destroy his rep and brand. As I've said over and over Melo's only play is to ask for a trade. He has no leverage except where he plays.

Sure Melo could cause trouble but what does that gain him? He's pretty conscious of his reputation and Brand. I doubt he ends things in NY in an ugly manner. He is not in a strong position to make any demands. All Melo can do is ask for a trade!

how about break holy triangle plays? How about not pass the ball like newMelo?

All you did is describe how Melo could cause trouble as I said he could do that but what would that benefit him since it would destroy his rep and brand. As I've said over and over Melo's only play is to ask for a trade. He has no leverage except where he plays.

making trouble is leverage

A spokesperson said he wasn’t asked many questions about the Knicks, and didn’t say much about the coaching situation.

http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball...

As for basketball, Melo sidestepped my question about his Knicks not having named a new coach.  “I stopped thinking about it right now and just really am trying to focus in on me getting better...Healthy-wise I feel good, back in the gym. I can worry about that part—the rest of it will work itself out.”

I am trying to find the smoking gun that proves Melo is talking and sending a message to Phil. I don't think it exists but any quote other than the reply to the yahoo finance guy where he said he would be a knick next year is all I can find. Hopefully there s a video of the interview soon. I am sure Melo is going to scratch hs ear or twitch his eye to let that rascal Phil know he wants Blatt.

This is strangely reminiscent of all the trouble Melo caused last year. Except for one thing:

reality: Melo is organizing team get togethers, workouts, and has taken KP under his wing

its the playoffs, the knicks suck, we don't have a pick, our prez is mia, life is good here, no reason to bitch and thank heaven that we are not philly!

Plenty to complain about if that is how you see things. How about trying to not post false information (i.e.
Melo knows phil has a problem and that is why he is not shutting the fuk up
)

Don't stop him now. He's rolling.

Yeah, i'd much rather be philly! They have picks! That they have to trade away after a year or two because no stupid mofo is going to stay in that dump!

the best player on your team should have some say in certain things, just like you want them to recruit other FA...no one on the roster wants rambis

You are vastly over-stating the case.

First it's not like melo is smart and when he speaks people give it to a of credit. There are many players who you want to listen to. Melo isnt one

Two he's tangling w the wrong dude. Phil has tangled w much stronger personalities and superior players and got them in line

Three if melo turns jerk, he will ride pine

Four two years ago he was shown he didnt have the appeal he hoped for. He was hoping teams would throw rose petals at his feet and the best he heard was 17 mill from the Bulls.

melo being dumb (perhaps) does not make this better. If he was smarter than he would be a much smarter player and have a lot more appeal.

funny how the homers are slowly tiptoeing away from him.

I think the "hinkey is great" or "Morey is genious" threads are crying for you to bump (speaking of homers tiptoeing )

This is strangely reminiscent of all the trouble Melo caused last year. Except for one thing:
media: Melo is outraged by the draft pick and the TH Jr trade and he's going to undermine the FO and cause problems
reality: Melo is organizing team get togethers, workouts, and has taken KP under his wing

mreinman, your a guy who says "its all over the internet, try using google" than you post links to articles written by nobodys who cite Marc Berman as a source. But carry on. Funny how you guys don't learn and continue to cling to abstract out of context quotes from unnamed sources from tabloids.

All these guys say the same thing.. that Rambis is Phil's choice. Funny he hasn't hired him yet.

mreinman, got anything I cant learn from the hobo down on the street?

The only relative info this offseason is
1) Phil interview Blatt
2) Willy has a contract offer
