What does Houston being in the playoffs have to do with this fool? When he's not hurt, he's underperforming, and when he's not hurt or underperforming he's causing all sorts of internecine sheehit with whatever team he's on.
Phil may be stupid and senile in some of your eyes, but he's not this stupid or senile at any level.
Kobe had the perfect synopsis for hating this bozo --- he could care less about winning.
Guy should just sign with the Globetrotters and call it a career.

Agreed. Rolo picked up the triangle over the course of the year and played one of the more important roles in it. Can Dwight fill those shoes? I'd rather keep some continuity.
I'm not anxious for the traveling circus to stop in NY either.
Let's look at guards.

yes, please. it is amazing how many want a big. why? it makes no sense. Bonn posted some numbers that I agreed with showing if we had an average backcourt we would have won 4 more games. I would have been much more satisfied with a 36-46 team than a 32-50, and also more optimistic for next season

Not sure what the math is behind that number, but that seems low if we were to upgrade both guard positions. Not concerned about the front court in the least, it was fine last year and that will even improve this year with KP's development, Willy coming over, and the remaining bigs' familiarity with the system.
Right now we're banking on Grant and Wroten to be our entire back court with spot minutes for a Sasha's coaching sessions and Jose's Weekend at Bernie's impression.
Not buying the Dwight speculation though. Sure it's a leak to try and up Dwight's salary when he signs with some other team.
rolo wouldn't mind coming off the bench if howard is a starter and kp at power forward. howard better come cheap, no max dollars or he can forget about it

It is intriguing. Would be like Rodman or Artest a malcontent but turned around
Big issue is Phil was the coach /horse-whisperer then
Whoever is coaching for us (Vogel please) would have to tell Howard to focus/dominate on D
Maybe we flip rolo for draft pick?
this... I think what people are missing in a Dwight scenario is how valuable Rolo is. Great contract, can anchor a defense and does tons of things to make the team better. Rolo will never be able to dominate a game like Howard does.Boston is desperate for a guy like Rolo. Give me Crowder and pick 16 for Rolo, max out Dwight for 4 years.
I am not a Dwight fan at all, but this gives the Knicks nice potential, another pick to build up the roster and a young player part of the long term. The idea is simple, compete now, and build up the roster. Knicks need to be better and make the playoffs. At the end of Dwight's deal KP would be 24-25. Then its his squad and he will have some players that have been around for a couple years and have grown together. Willy, Grant, Wroten, Early... how knows how many or who pans out, but you build it now, you compete for a couple years, you get the younger guys in the playoffs and playing meaningful games and after 4 years its the next generation of Knicks.
Its a plan. Really comes down to what we can get for Rolo
I love Crowder and would love to have him but i'd really like to get Avery Bradley from them.
sure... I am game. Love Bradley. Point is Howard is a stop gap to get us back into the playoffs while the younger part of the roster develops. I look at Dwight as a 3 year plan (Ill trade him in his walk year for an asset if all goes as planned). It a tough spot because the draft comes first, so I would hate to trade Rolo to Boston without having Dwight locked up.
Totally agree he's clown, its a bad chemistry move and in many ways Rolo is a better player. There is def risk.
Not interested, but mostly for his off-the-court stuff. Doesn't he have 8 kids, all with different mothers?
I question his maturity, especially after seeing how poised and professional KP is.

I think that nixluva told him.

Rolo is a valuable team player that Dwight will never be.
25 years of chasing "stars" and being a bottom dweller in the worst conference in basketball, wasn't enough for some people. I guess this willing suspension of reality is a faith based belief system of it's own. There will always be people who salivate over stars and there'll always be people that want the Knicks to succeed with or without stars. And there'll always be the same debates being rehashed.

Follow the link in the story. This is the same rumor with the same quote from two months ago.
This is amazing how Knicks fans blame Dolan and MSG for constant starpunch idiocracy but are the in fact the main source of it.

What do you mean? Dolan has the final say on all decisions.

This is your opinion, but its not shared by everyone in the NBA, not even most. If both are FAs this offseason and all these teams have cap space who get's the better offer? While I agree with your point that Lopez is probably a better basketball player and team guy the simple fact is Lopez cant impact a game like Dwight can. That's what commands the money in the NBA above pretty much everything else.
I am not defending Howard, he's a douche and not my kind of player, but his market and value are higher than Lopez. If you don't think so you are not reality based. This is the NBA.
The question for me would be how much would you pay for Dwight? $15M? $18M? $20M?
Does he want to win? Last big contract?
IMHO he is not a max player any more and because of his back, going on a 4+ year contract is insane. 3 years starting at $18 and I'm in. $20M at 4 years and I'd think long and hard about it.

...almost as boring as reading the non-stop, blind hate posted here.
By the way, the Celtics, Lakers, Heat called. They want you to polish their rings with their leftover starphucque's saliva. Oh, and look! two of those teams come from the worst conference in basketball.
Does it ever occur to you, in your little Melo hate hole, that there's only two conferences? Whining about being the worst out of two conferences makes a whole lot of sense to you?
And there will always be those who hate for no reason, who spout whining, beeyatching "facts" (Does winning the division and 54 games constitute bottom dwelling?), and embrace their negativity as some sort of badge of "true" fandom.
nixluva wrote:ChuckBuck wrote:Don't want him. Phuck that clown....
He may be a clown but he's been to the Finals and is always in the playoffs. He would be an upgrade in talent. He would help open things up for our other players. More easy alleyoops and put backs. The only time he's a problem is when he's not involved but he will be involved here in this offense.
Spending a max contract on Dwight would be a good way to minimize our roster talent.

$18mill total or $18mill a year?!?!?
When you think about it, he's really not worth the trouble at any dollar amount. Especially since you have Sub him at the end of games due to his inability to hit free throws. And even if Silver does tweak the rule to penalize Hack-a-Dwight, you simply cannot afford to have Howard at the end of close games or if teams go Small ball on you and put a Stretch 5 out there.
He's simply a dinosaur in today's NBA. Doesn't have the explosion he used to have like a Drummond or Deandre, and commands way too much for what he does provide when he manages to stay healthy. Can't hit anything past 10 feet in, so there goes the Pick and Pop playbook....just too many negatives to say he'd be a fit on any team besides a contender.

yea man its a really tough move. Hard to envision a starting point lower than 4/$80mm. I cant even say that I would do it if I was GM. High risk move, but the upside is great. The upside is if he's the same player in Houston without a crappy attitude than he puts the Knicks back in the playoffs. So the team gets better, and you get you flip Rolo for a young guard and or a pick, so you improve at C and you fill the team's biggest need by upgrade the guard spot. I mean there are some really center starved teams with assets. Boston jumps out with 3 first rounders and a handful of guards to package for a player like Rolo, and Rolo could really move the needle for them. Interesting
