Its not about how many you take its about how many you make.

Thats why I want Crabbe Curry and Forbes. We can use athletes in between some of these guys but if you cannot see the HUGE spot on tell that 3 point % shows--you are missing the game today. We have the three big guys upfront we need guys who cane MAKE 3 point shots at a high% clip to enhance the team.

Cartman718 @ 5/15/2016 11:39 PM
I really like those 3 possibilities, if we can get 2 out of 3, I'll be very happy.

he did say it's about how many you make and Jose only makes 1.2 3pters a game. He is basically wasting his one good talent. Briggs has it slightly wrong in my opinion. It is about how many you take and how many you make. A team need high volume above average 3pt shooter.

BRIGGS @ 5/16/2016 9:36 AM
6 of the last 8 standing teams 3 out of the last 4. Ill go a step further which makes more sense

Here is true shooting %--we are 24

https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/tr...

It show sin EVERY offensive statistic that the most effecient offenses led by 3 point shooting in 6 out of 8 teams--were the main reason why teams are still standing.

Its a warning to STAY away from low % players

The question is does Phil think the 3 point shot is as important as we do?? I don't think he does. I guess we'll find that out in the not so distant future but if we could come away with two of the guys you mentioned we'd be good and another guy i've been talking about is C.Lee who can shoot the rock and plays good defense.

I don't think anyone could figure out why Jose wouldn't shoot more when Rambis, Fisher and Phil all have said during the season that they were telling him to shoot more but he just wouldn't do it. He would just keep on doing his stupid little pump fake but would hardly ever shoot it.

Yeah that's the easy way out. If you want to know, check out his former team's stats. I know that others have posted stats to show that his teams had some of the top offensive efficient stats out there. No need to come to a conclusion that may not be correct when info is out there for you.

The most important stat is how many threes a player takes and what percentage he makes them at. Calderon doesn't take that many so its difficult to put him in the category of a Curry or those that take way more than him.
newyorknewyork @ 5/16/2016 9:56 AM
The most important stat in the NBA is point differential.
Knixkik @ 5/16/2016 9:57 AM
There's no question you have to be a good 3pt shooting team in today's league. The one year we exceeded expectations, 2012-2013, we had role players knocking down 3 pointers at a very high rate.

What Im looking for is high 2% and high3 % not every players needs to be a 3 points hooter--for example Livingston and Igudola--they are the pieces in between. Also there is no doubt in my mind that we need to play Carmelo less--it has to be a priority to get him less minutes so he can increase his FG%--he gets too tired.

Id love to get 2/3 too. Im willing to over pay for the free agents Forbes should be the easiest.

earthmansurfer @ 5/16/2016 10:48 AM
Most exciting time of the year for me (and many Knicks fans) - draft and FA, especially the first.
Glad we have Hernangomez coming over (with no first) and I have the feeling we are buying a late first or early 2nd.
I can't imagine us getting another rookie (2 in total is probably enough), though I'd like one. (Well, outside of just owning rights.)
BRIGGS @ 5/16/2016 11:12 AM
combo guard Seth Curry 6-2 190--3rd best 3 point shooter in the NBA showed really good PG skills the last month of season--improving defender can play on and off ball very smart player

SG Allan Crabbe 6-6 215--is Allan the most under the radar possibility ion free agency? Hes got great size and when hes gotten his turn to shine--hes played well. Portland fans love him he was a great performers in the playoffs for a really good young team

combo guard---Bryn Forbes--lead the NCAA in 3 pG FG% with most attempts over 3 Has show no less than 43% in his last 3 years from 3 in volume. Lead Portsmouth in scoring and shot almost 44% from 3

G Derrick Jones 6-7 was the most efficient offensive player from 2 point range in ALL of college basketball as a freshmen--best athlete with a 45 inch vertical showed great progress end of year with minutes. Was disruptive defensively both in and out of the paint and was a top 2 rebounder for position per minute

G Michael Gbinjie 6-7--can play 1-2-3 has proven to shoot the rock from 3 plays both sides passes handles defends

Its the teams--the teams have the best 3 point shooting and most efficient overall scoring. Like Clev--Lebron 2 point shooting is one of the best in the NBA--not a great 3 point shooting player--but several of his teammates are able to play off his 2 point % and get good 3's and hit them. You need both.

your comment here makes sense, but a lot of your comments seem to suggest paying the money to the 3 point guy

personally, i think the problem with the "most important stat" approach is there's not a good one to show a player's overall balance. Defense, offense, shooting, passing, overall consistency game-to-game and the little stuff that never gets recorded like skinned knees and selfless play

more than 3 pointers, the knicks need vastly improved defense from the guards. That will create easier buckets for us, more wins, less playing helter skelter to catch up (which again yields poor offensive play);

nixluva @ 5/16/2016 4:22 PM
The Knicks have been working with our guards on shooting. Clearly that would include 3pt shooting. Grant and Wroten having worked with H2O on shooting is one example of their level of concern.

Also Phil has had some really good 3pt shooters over the years. Hodges, Paxson and Kerr in particular. Even tho the amount of 3pt attempts has been growing it's obvious that Phil's teams did use the 3pt shot at an above average level until he last 2 years when we haven't really had a lot of confident 3pt shooting players. I suspect that we'll see the number of 3's increase as the talent improves.

Im looking for more innate shooters to enhance our club.

Obviously Phil would want that as well! Who isn't looking for guards that can shoot? I would think that it's pretty clear he's hunting for guards that can shoot the 3 just by looking at the guys he's been having his staff look to bring in. I think he'd love to have players who can do a little more than 3-D but also pass and create.
