Knicks · Panathinaikos interested in Thanasis (page 2)

TA may not be a great playmaker now and may never be at the NBA level. But he's got the prototypical size, length, and athleticism/quickness for a wing player. If he can rebound, play pesky D, and finish... And hit 35%+ on 3's... Well that's a serious rotation player, especially on a team with a dominant all-around wing like Carmelo.

You can see some things he can do well based on the highlight clips.

I think he just needs to be given a chance. He has enough hunger and enthusiasm, it rivals Draymond Green's intensity at times. Draymond easily is more talented right now, but Thanasis can get to that ceiling if he applies himself AND...if pjax gives him a chance. Not that we weren't one of the lower echelon teams on defense or anything.

I don't see the big deal. Regardless of what the team looks like now or later.....he will not be the worst player on the team. Basketball is mostly mental. Majority of basketball players around the world have similar physical tools. His defensive energy alone is a missing link for this team. He's the guy you bring off the bench to harass the star player and soak up fouls while giving us easy transition buckets. He has more positives than negatives. If Rodman can learn the triangle without a jump shot.....why can't he, who right now has a better jumper than rodman. I see Gerald Wallace aka crash as his NBA ceiling....

I see it even higher than that... IF he is given the opportunity

People like Thanasis for the same reason they liked Biyombo--*IF* he ever puts it all together he'll be really good. It's a big if. But considering we got him in the second rather than spend a lotto pick, I would like to keep him around and hope he puts it all together here.

The talks are not in advanced stage so far, the source added, but the interest is real and the Greens hope to convince the player to return in Europe.]</blockquote>
