Knicks · Louis Labeyrie (page 1)

I google translated this. And checked his stats on basketball reference. He is shooting .410 from 3 pt range this year on 49 or so shots. 24 years old. Still developing but a good stash player.

"Despite 26 points and 12 rebounds Louis Labeyrie , the Paris Levallois was unable to afford the scalp of Strasbourg"

Thanks for the update. I think it was encouraging that he came over for the summer league last year and that he continues to improve. When the Knicks selected him it was a bit of a surprise as I don't think he was on the radar of many teams or draft sites.
SocraticBallin22 @ 5/29/2016 9:51 PM
Sucks?
callmened @ 5/30/2016 9:33 AM
hes not a good NBA player. moving on
newyorker4ever @ 5/30/2016 9:54 AM
I'm more impressed with you doing google translated then i am with Labeyrie.
crzymdups @ 5/30/2016 9:55 AM
Maybe trade his rights for a second rounder in this year's draft with some cash?
martin @ 5/30/2016 11:08 AM
I haven't seen him play 1 minute, not sure how others are coming to a conclusion that he sucks
franco12 @ 5/30/2016 11:57 AM
this coming year is the year players like Labeyrie and Hernangomez should be on our roster - ok if they don't get much time, but we're going to need to 1. find out of if these players have talent or not & 2. develop them so they can start to be part of the future.

Our target should not be this year, but 3-5 years down the line.

Yes, obviously try to be good this off season, but lets not stupidly win games that prevent us from grabbing a stephon curry!

So far Phil has kept every pick he has made in someway. I think he brings back Thanasis. Not sure about Early. Labeyrie's numbers have improved the past two years since he was drafted. Retaining his rights while he develops isn't a bad thing. He also can always be used in a trade.
nixluva @ 5/30/2016 12:42 PM
Just the fact that any investment in young talent overseas was made by Phil is such a positive thing. It's an underrated aspect of his tenure. With one pick in 3 years Phil took a proactive approach to acquiring prospects. I hope Willy and Louis can help and become part of this process.

These stashes can be a really smart n cost effective way to acquire n develop players. All the development work is being done by someone else and we get to reap the benefits. If Louis has developed a 3pt shot that would be really good news.

He's French. Frederic Weiss was French. Frederic Weis sucks. Therefore he sucks. It's one of those Knicks syllogisms.

Bonus Fact: Weiss nowadays runs the French equivalent of a corner bodega in France somewhere!

He played in the summer league last year and he didn't suck. He was scrappy and solid. Not sure if he is an nba player but his numbers in France have improved every year since the draft.
EwingsGlass @ 5/30/2016 2:10 PM
1) he met with PJax when drafted and Jax gave him some things to work on.
2) he is not getting a lot of minutes in France.
3) he did hit 41% from 3 on like 49 attempts in 32 games.
4) his block numbers seem pretty low.
5) hid ft% is in the 50% range making his 3 pt shooting look like an aberration.

That said, seems like growth on what is now a free option.

He sucks because he's not an established superstar yet. Everyone wants to pay Bazemore and Seth Curry 15 mull a year. They wanna pay Conley 30 mull a year. This is our fanbase in 2016. That is what truly sucks

For the record, I don't think he sucks. I think he's an asset we have at a position we are overly deep at - KP, Rolo, Hernangomez, KOQ, even DWill and Melo are probably better at the 4 than 3, etc. We are thin as hell in the backcourt and on the wing. Why not explore trading him for a second round pick?

I think saying someone who doesn't agree with you sucks is actually the part that sucks.

Also for the record, I'm less interested in arguing what the team should do than in speculating on what the team WILL do.

I think Labeyrie is an asset that they MIGHT explore trading for a second rounder to fill a guard slot.

I want to talk about potential and talk about basketball development. Simply saying "oh he sucks" without any conversation sucks.

Oh, well I didn't say that. I agree that's dumb.

I'm sure he was at least offered every time Phil has talked with any team about any kind of trade already but nobody has taken the bait yet but it would be nice to be able to get a 2nd rounder in this draft for him.
