He gets a Max contract wherever he ends up, but gets more with OKC, right?
If he goes to another team besides OKC he has to be looking at a team he feels he can win a title with, and one he fits in with well in terms of his playing style.
Would the Knicks offer him the best chance for a title?
We wouldn't give him the best chance at a title next year but i think we could be a contender for the 2017/18 season if we get KD this off season and our top point guard the following off season when we'll have around $27 million to spend. In the 2017/18 season we could have a lineup of:
PG--C.Paul or K.Lowry or R.Westbrook or J.Teague or......the list of free agent PG's in 2017 is strong. SG--?? SF--K.Durant/Melo PF--Melo/K.Durant C--KP/R.Lopez
I don't even know who i'd put at the SG spot and with that lineup i don't think it would matter and i'd probably just put a strong defender there that can D-Up the other teams top player.

They do offer a best chance at a championship simply because they are in the east. If he signs with the Knicks the Knicks automatically get catapulted to favorite status even over the Cavs.
There's a lot of truth to this. At the moment he has to be thinking that, if you're in the west, the road to the finals somehow goes through GS, SAS, LAC, Portland(?) etc. tough!
The east has to look easier especially since Miami is aging, Cleveland is proving a one-person show, Toronto (enigma).
If I were him I'd definitely consider it, and I'd want to hear what the "plan" is. However, he'd have to be hugely impressed.
And let's not discount NYC would be cool to play in. OKC, San Antonio dullsville

If we get KD, what would be the $$ left and the plan to get winning guards.
This would be where the Ned thread comes into play. Would KD like to play with Teague more or Lopez? Also, The $5.5m who save from the trade makes it easier to pay Durant and have money left over.
SupremeCommander@ 6/8/2016 3:05 PM
maybe we can get KD, Conley, and DeRozan to all sign for the MLE

You'd have to trade Rolo for a PG in that scenarios otherwise KP would have to go to the bench and you'd have no backcourt

I'd agree with this - but I'm not skeptical of KD using NY for leverage. I'm skeptical of SAS and Skip using the NY market for views and hits on the ESPN website.
I'm skeptical of BOTH. We already know SAS is an idiot blowhard who says anything to bump his page views and ratings. He's a publicity whore.
Of course KD would "consider" NY. Then he will do what others have done, just say "No", although he's sort of polite, so he'll say "No, thank you".
We don't need KD. We have Melo. Let's add complimentary pieces, not redundant ones.
what complimentary piece would want to come to a team with melo, KP, and KD, that's a front court for the ages..3 guys that can't be guarded 1 on 1, can all shoot from any part of he floor..

Good take.
Skip is leaving ESPN, and he could have just left this to Stephen A., so i don't think it serves him any advantage to say something that's not true just to benefit ESPN.
this is true, and very rarely do they both agree on what they have heard
EnySpree@ 6/8/2016 3:35 PM
I don't care what either person says especially when it comes to sources. Didn't Stephen A Smith accuse Durant of something only for Durant to call him a liar. Then SAS went on a tirade about his integrity and then threatened Durant on espn.... if someone could clarify or confirm that please do
Edit: it was about going to LA... here it is

That or KD plays the 2. lol. A Teague for Lopez trade would open up the door for KD to slide into the 3 and I'd be cool with KP at the 5.
My dream scenario would be to let O'quinn and Jose go and then use that money + Durant left overs to get Fournier/Crabbe.
Teague/Grant Fournier or Crabbe/LG Durant/Lance/ Melo/Lance/vet min KP/Willy

that would make them Super Duper Stupid Friends

If its just about a chip, then he should stay. If he thinks this was the year and not next, then he should move. Does it make sense that other than going to SAS or GSW he'd be making a trip to the finals a guaranteed thing? Or, if coming to a new York is three year window by which we can add another superfriend the season after next?
Living somewhere else, different cultural expeience and a star on the rise that over the next 5 years could be THE MAN? Odds are he don't leave, but if he does we don't really know what would make him tick. I'd say logistically playing with Melo could be a challenge, but so would finding shots with GSW and perhaps the chemistry on court with SAS is not that appealing. Besides, Pop might not be there much longer. The other thing is does OKC have the money to pay him long term? 9 years in the league and they a small market reliant on Energy prices.
This was minority owner Aubrey Mclendon:
The day after he was indicted by a federal grand jury for bid rigging he drove his car into a bridge.
Dude was toast. Pun intended. It was ruled an accident cuz they could not find any evidence of suicide. Not note, no drugs, no booze. He bluntly drove into it mid day at like 90mph. 5 years ago: He went bust. Energy prices dropping is no joke. This team and its corperate base might be not able to sustain the cash flow going forward. That's season tickets folks.

A few years back Phil questioned whether Amar'e and Melo and Tyson would fit. I remember at the time being somewhat surprised and wondering whether he was trolling. After all, it seemed to fit, C, PF, SF.
As it turns out he was right. Tyson and Amare both wanted pNr. Amare and Melo both wanted tons of shots. None of them really facilitated for the other.
I'd be stoked if this rumor were true, but wonder whether Phil sees a fit here because it's not super apparent. Perhaps it's simply you can't pass on the opportunity and have to gut it out with Melo
One thing about KD from all the interviews etc. he's clearly a bright person. I can really imagine him and Phil clicking in ways that wouldn't work with other team presidents, GMs etc.

I watched it when it came out and just tried to watch it again but i just can't listen to that guy talk that much. SAS is always calling sports players or any kind of celebrity his boys if he talked to that person one time but these guys are not his boys and they're just doing their job when they talk to him which part of these sports guys jobs are talking to these media people which is what SAS is. He'll always say certain people called him when he's on the show cause he wants people to think he hangs out with these guys outside of work when he most likely spends his saturday nights at home with his cat or dog. The guy is a complete clown.

A straight up lame.
It's 2016... I'm glad to ignore these taking heads. Their opinion and sources are no better than our own.
nykshaknbake@ 6/9/2016 5:26 AM
Skip and SAS are probably among the least reliable people to get anything like this from. Even if imthey aren't flat out lying, it's probably someone asking his agent if he would ever consider the knicks. The agent would never say no, regardless of what team he was asked.
jrodmc@ 6/9/2016 4:15 PM
KD signs, Westbrook follows him here the next year. OKC folds up and someone moves the franchise back to Seattle where they replace SacTown as the perennial flotsam of the West.
College towns are nice, great fans, but they go through cycles. I think this one is about burned out, no pun intended.
I sure do like that yellowboy proposed lineup though: Teague Fournier Durant Melo KP
Sure hate parting with Rolo though...
Gudris@ 6/9/2016 4:21 PM
If KP comes back twice as good as this season, we dont need KD
I think the reason KD has interest is the oppprtunity to be in the Jordan or Kobe role with Phils vision. If Phil can present to KD a plan in where he can be in the Jordan role, Melo the Pippen role, with Kristaps doing a bit of everything, that's going to be one of the best teams in the league right away. Factor Hornachek's offense will bridge/merge the Triangle's principles with those of the quicker higher volume 3 point shooting elements, then KD would feel at home real quick.
The east is also much easier to hey to the Finals than the West. OKC had their best run in years and didn't make to the Finals even. Westbrook is only going to get older more paid and slower - thus lowering their chances at a ring. From a long term perspective the East, Kristaps, Hornachek/Phil all would be better for Durant's career. But that doesn't mean I think he will become a Knick.
nyknickzingis@ 6/10/2016 1:44 AM
Knicks could salary dump Lopez for a pick, move Kristaps full time to the 5, with Willy coming over as his backup and maybe keeping Seraphin for another year. If Williams opt out like we think, then the Knicks would have money to sign Durant and also sign another free agent.
A team that would take on Lopez for salary cap could be the Lakers or Celtics. Both teams need a Center badly. If we do that, then I think signing Durant and A point guard as well are not out of the equation.
