Knicks · Knicks interested in J.Clarkson. (page 2)

No interested in chucking Clarkson. Want players that see the pass and make the pass when appropriate.

The max part of the contract wouldn't kick in until 2 more seasons later.

I've been saying for a while that i think the Lakers could really surprise a lot of people and be the winners of free agency this off season. They have $60 million to spend and some really good young talent on that team in J.Clarkson, J.Randle, L.Nance and D.Russell and a new young coach that has made a name for himself in L.Walton. I could see them getting two top free agents this off season with D.Derozan being one.

I'm not sure i agree. the D'angelo brain freeze this year might make people wonder about what type of sh!t show is going on there. Not sold on Randle yet, and if Clarkson and Nance are the other attractions then....

they do have a great history and a ton of money though, and they're LA and have a super promising young coach

They also have the second pick in the draft, no?

They'll have a lot of good young pieces. If they don't hit a big FA this year, they have a good shot at some in 2017.

I think you might see a lot of guys take those 1 and 1 deals with a player option in year 2 because of the big cap explosion in 2017...

good point. the roster posted a few back would be intriguing with Ingram or Simmons or whoever

Will be interesting to watch unfold. I just don't see players going there for the roster. they're going for $$ and for the idea that the Lakers don't stay down for long

For me, this is the same as with Brandon Jennings.

Agree dont like either player but I think its a possibility.

ROndo can do a lot of things but when you think about ROndo you don't think good shooter. JH recently emphasized he wants people who can shoot. Not just score, but specifically shoot.

I suspect he's envisioning an offense trying to get quick buckets whenever possible, and after that use an outside in approach

Rondo did shoot 37% from 3 last season, which is at least respectable.

Im thinking the lack of shooting is whats keeping Wrooten out of JH's vocabulary.

I agree they have a lot of money and the way the cap rules work it will be hard to get any of their youth away from them. The only real negative is this isn't that great of a FA class. So even if they walk away with Derozan and say Whiteside (or another Marquee FA). That isn't going to make them contenders, or even guarantee them a high playoff seed next year.

Well no you don't just add a couple of legit players and all of the sudden become contenders but if they added Derozan and Whiteside to Russell, Randle Clarkson that would be a hell of a start and don't think it would take long for them to become a team ready to make some noise in the playoffs.

PG--D.Russell
SG--D.Derozan
SF--??
PF--J.Randle
C--H.Whiteside

With J.Clarkson as the 6th man or either him or Derozan could even play some SF that would be a good team.

Will Walton want to create another GS type offense?

DeRozan can't shoot from deep...Whiteside is a legendary black hole on offense...how Russell will turn out is still a question mark, IMO, and Randle is a good rebounder who can't shoot from deep (not sure about his passing). Not sure you can have Nance on the floor with Randle for long minutes...they seem to be redundant in many ways.

They still have some chuckers on the bench who I think have extended contracts (Williams and Young)

I just don't like the player mix on the Lakers, and offensively the above lineup, with the rest of the players they now have on their roster, would have some major limitations, in my opinion.

I don't think it's that as much as the unknown factor. Until JH sees him in practice and can get a feel for what can actually do there's nothing to say. Plus he's only on a partial guarantee contract. I expect to hear more if Wroten does well in preparation for Summer League.

NOW HOLD UP MARTIN! 33 pages says Wroten's ability to shoot are still up for debate, among his other impressive skills.

Rondo is a Louisville kid. Louisville is my new adopted home. I'd like it because I could get my Louisville friends to watch the games with me.

Rondo's been in the woods in some bad situations for a few years now. He's supposedly always wanted to play with Melo. Maybe he mellows out a bit and sees the potential of taking center stage at the Garden. He's always loved the big stage - always puts up bigger numbers in nationally televised games.

I'm not saying it'll happen and I don't know who they'd put next to him at SG, but maybe Hornacek and Phil sell him on an offense he can get behind. Hornacek likes the pick and roll. Phil and JH both preach read and react ball. Rondo is a jerk, but highly intelligent and you'd think that read and react thing would appeal to his chess game mind. And he can play chess with Melo on the flights.

Didn't Rondo shoot like 38 percent from 3 last year as well??

And 56% from the charity stripe?

I guess you have to hope that the rehab from his acl surgery helped with his shot. Some guys report that it does because it is the only basketball related activity they can do for a long time. Herring had an article on it and I have seen others. Also, I read somewhere that the difference is noted in year 2 after the surgery.
SocraticBallin22 @ 6/9/2016 7:31 PM
Lakers will match any offer and he can only get up to midlevel, so he's not going anywhere. This is a non-story.
