we lose melo and lopez but gain brandon knight, alex len, pj tucker, archie goodwin and two draft picks number 4 and 13
what you all think abut that?
Knixkik @ 6/14/2016 11:13 AM
They just did it for fun, but it would be an absolutely steal for the Knicks. They could build around KP, Knight, Len, Grant, and the 4th and 13th picks. Would have one of the best young squads in the league. Way too good to ever have a chance of happening though.
anrst @ 6/14/2016 11:14 AM
i like it
NYKBocker @ 6/14/2016 11:30 AM
This would be a great trade if we can get Buddy Hield with the 4th pick.

That would be a WIN WIN for everyone involved, but like anything good in life, ain't happening for the Knicks...

Is it really a win for the knicks?
Melo and Lopez are good players. We'd get in return 2 high picks in a 2 men draft from what I hear and a few average players. How does it help us?

Knight is far from average. He's a good ball player, and still young. Len is also young with some good upside. I have always wanted to keep Melo with the Knicks, but this type of deal would be an absolute steal. It would be met with universal acclaim by all Knicks fans, both those who like Melo and those who don't. But it is an unrealistic deal generally speaking.

WaltLongmire @ 6/14/2016 12:15 PM
How does Hornachek get along with the Phoenix players coming here.

Not a terrible trade for any of the teams involved, although the Suns might need more than just Irving and Love, I would think.

dacash @ 6/14/2016 12:16 PM
i like melo and advocate keeping him but this is a nice trade

That's an incredible reset for the Knicks. Alex Len was playing out of his mind last year. Len and Kristaps together for the next 10 years would be fucking incredible. Knight is a good player on both sides of the ball. Can be prolific scoring at times. Goodwin still has a chance to be a good 2 guard in the nba. Tucker is a motherfucker on defense. Plus 2 first round picks? Sweet baby Jesus.

Incredible trade but it's hard to see Melo leaving to Cleveland. Even if LeBron begs him which I'm sure he's already doing

nyvector16 @ 6/14/2016 12:19 PM
There are only two real stars in this trade, Carmelo and Kyrie. We are trading one away, and don't get the only other one in return. This is not a good trade. It is the Carmelo Anthony trade from Denver, but in reverse. We get some ok talent, but almost all of the deal is based on "potential"...
Bonn1997 @ 6/14/2016 12:28 PM
How much cap space would we end up getting from this?

Not true at all. We would be getting back 3 times the talent we gave up. Only player we dealt with real value and upside was Gallinari. No high picks. We would be getting back a high lotto pick and 2 young players with very high value (plus other pieces.) Plus, if you can get back the same value for 32 year old Melo than you traded for 26 year old Melo, thats incredible. In this case, it would be significantly more.

I added up the 4 Phoenix players - they match Melo's $24M. So the space we would gain is Lobez - draft picks which is not a whole lot.

Dude... I'm obsessed with this trade now.

Kristaps
Tucker
Len
Knight

Buddy Heid at #4? Holy shizz... then there's pick 13? With Wroten and Grant out there? Holy shot

newyorker4ever @ 6/14/2016 1:01 PM
I'm one of the bigger Melo fans on here but i've always said for the right trade to build around KP i'd be good with trading Melo and this deal would be the right deal.

We do all know that this is just someone having fun and coming up with a trade and not the Knicks, Clev or Phoenix people have anything to do with this right?? This trade would never happen, maybe something close to it could happen if Melo wanted to go to Clev which i don't see happening.

Melo tweeted this today with the title "Home is where the heart is"

I'd rather get K.Dunn or B.Ingram but wouldn't be mad at drafting B.Hield.

dacash @ 6/14/2016 1:09 PM
so if we already have kp6,galloway, wroten, grant, kyle oquin, calderon. bring over hernangomez
we get brandon knight, alex len, pj tucker, archie goodwin
draft like buddy hield and power forward tye
bring back dwill and lance
thats a young competitive team?
knight
grant
pj tucker
kp6
wily or len
good young fast 5?
NardDogNation @ 6/14/2016 1:21 PM
I'd look to package Len and Goodwin for an asset but I do like this deal alot. Maybe to Dallas for a future first?

I'd also bring in Evan Turner via free agency to help create that 2-guard front that the triangle and PHO-system features. He and Brandon Knight could vibe really well with each other both on-and-off the court, given what I've been able to gather about their personalities.

Ingram is a lock for #2. This would be for the 4th pick.
