That was their defensive philosophy the whole year and last year. The problem now is that Iggy was hurt and Bogut was out. Barnes also had a bad string games 4 to 7 in the finals.

I thought this series was determined more by defense, than by offense. If Lue is responsible for that, then hats off to him!

Ha, I'm sure you argued more than that! I think this is the first time in my nba watching history that the team I was rooting for actually won. I think it's interesting because the cavs are a really clumsy fitting team- big achievement by LeBron. Did anyone seen Jr and shump as nba champions? Very unexpected result all round

+1 ... the defense was inspired, what the championship is all about to me. I had to remind myself of Lue as a player and watched this video of him guarding AI: he was relentless in this game!

And of course, that step over! Funny how the storylines intersect. Also Lue lead all players in 3Pt% 66% in that 2001 Finals.

Seriously, when your shot is not falling, at some point, you need points and you need to attack the basket and make refs give you FTs and get in closer and score 2's.

I agree. Also that behind the back pass that was a turnover has no place being thrown in the second half of a game 7 for the title.

It is the kind of pass you might make if you were up by 30 late in the 3rd quarter...and after causing the turnover the coach would have called a time out and taken the offending player out of the game.

What was he thinking?

I commented on that pass in the playoff thread...arguably the most ill-advised and poorly executed pass I've ever seen in a playoff game, and even if completed it was not going to help develop the play any differently than a simple bounce pass.

LeBron kept having to wave someone over to get the help he needed. Made they offense sputter. If Lue hadn't made an adjustment, they could have lost the series right there. Cavs came out of the timeout and LeBron initiated the offense almost immediately.

Im impressed most of all that Lue (with LeBron's help) kept their eyes on the prize. Great job for a rookie coach, but he still needs more seasoning IMO to be a first rate tactician. Cant beat that start though, wow.

Lebron was amazing last year which is lost on many because they did not win it.
Perhaps Kyrie plays, and Cav's win the series last year? Then Blatt is Kerr.
But fate has it and Lebron, who like most GOAT's are diva's and wanted his guy.
GSW validates its Chip with a 73 win season that was off the charts. They lost only 3 games all season long at home. And being up 3-1, loses its last two at home.
One might say Cav's are and have been the better team face to face if healthy. Splash brothers lived and died by the three.

IM impressed with Cav's defense, which made the Splash brothers less effective. They had a bad series cuz OKC wore them down, as did the the cavs. This shyt is not easy.
