From NBADraft.net
NBA Comparison: Jeremy Lin
Strengths: Scrappy, overachieving shooting guard who has a great feel for the game ... Solid decision maker ... Good shooter with range out to the NBA 3-point line (solid volume 2 per game, and percentage 40%) … Can put the ball on the floor and sees the court well … Has nearly doubled his assist total as a sophomore while playing only slightly more minutes … At the same time, has managed to keep his turnovers relatively the same … Played a key role as a redshirt freshman for Wichita State’s Final Four team showing excellent poise … Work ethic seems to be an obvious factor, has developed greatly since arriving as a walk-on in 2011 (though, one who was guaranteed a scholarship for the next season) … Has improved his on-ball defense, … Greatly improved his all-around offensive game since his freshman season, showing much more ability to create opportunities going to the basket ...

Weaknesses: Jack of all trades overachiever type, but doesn't have any stand out skill that makes him intriguing as an NBA prospect at this point ... Undersized for a SG and lacks speed and athleticism for either NBA guard position ... A solid shooter, but not elite ... Lateral quickness definitely an issue for defending guards at the NBA level … Size not optimal for SG, and has not displayed the ability to play point guard full time ... Suffered a stress fracture in his left foot that caused him to miss all of Wichita State’s conference regular season as a FR … Has also played hurt for a great deal of this season, injury prone? … Goes through bouts of streakiness and inconsistency ... Yet to maintain a high level overall FG % … Below the rim player, not many starting SG’s out there on high level teams, hard to see him as a primary ball handler ... Born in 1993 so the age of a junior after redshirting his first year at WSU ...

Notes: From a small town in western Kansas, and was a three-sport athlete in high school … Led Scotts City High School to three 3A State Championships … At time of report, has 32-3 record in games he has played in during career at Wichita State … Gives a lot of effort and has really good mind for the game … Measured 6'4 (in shoes) 222 lbs, with a 6'8.5 wingspan at the 2014 Kevin Durant Skills Academy

I actually like the dude. I've seen him play plenty but forgot all about him. He's got a legit chance to help us
dacash @ 6/24/2016 12:39 AM
the other half of the coin

they liked him though has to account for something
EnySpree @ 6/24/2016 12:40 AM

Early can teach his old teammate how not to get shot in the big city.

I was gonna say a smaller more athletic Craig Ehlo/Pat Connaughton maybe. You would know better than me though/

We got a guard! Well, that's something. Don't know this guy, but I'll trust y'all's judgment. (And Phil and JH and Mills and hopefully Clarence Gaines!)
nixluva @ 6/24/2016 12:51 AM
This isn't the guy that i'm sure they were hot after, so there should be more signings coming, but he's worth a look to see if he can make the team.
wargames @ 6/24/2016 12:53 AM
The parallels between him and Hornecek's origins is a bit uncanny. Both of them are smart players who joined their teams as walk on and "overachieved" and by being winners. Both are also 6'4 so they are a little undersized for being a SG but highly skilled. Hopefully this turns out great the Knicks need depth and talent.
EnySpree @ 6/24/2016 1:02 AM
Yeah guys is not a splash but the kid can play. We're going to sign more guys like this to try out for us so well see how it goes
NYY1NYK2 @ 6/24/2016 1:23 AM
Baker reminds me of gordon hayward

I had this exact thought

it's a highlight video - but I love that he is taking and making 3's from basically the NBA distance.
Knixkik @ 6/24/2016 7:48 AM
I like him a lot. He should have been picked. He was a possible late first round pick last year if I remember right. Reminds me a little of Matthew Dellavedova. No position but can shoot and is tough.
Nalod @ 6/24/2016 8:04 AM
He reminds me of other white players.
nyk4ever @ 6/24/2016 8:08 AM
signing baker and any other kid from the wichita state program is fine in my book (too bad dj's raptors signed fred vanfleet) these guys had one of the most unlikely runs in ncaa tourney history. they were all hard workers who got after it, so you know they're going to work. as far as baker goes, kid can shoot, doesn't mind getting some floor burns, can create for himself a bit. was a former walk-on, so you know he's a tireless worker. this is a good signing and i think he has a legitimate shot that he could surprise people.

So weird that i was thinking the same thing....hahahaha

newyorker4ever @ 6/24/2016 10:00 AM
This is the kind of player that gives you his all when he's on the floor and has a high basketball IQ so i'm looking forward to watching him in the SL. I was hearing a lot of rumors before the draft that we liked W.Selden and Yogi Ferrell and both are free agents so i'm surprised we haven't signed either of them, maybe they were just wrong rumors which is shocking to hear any new york media to come out with any wrong rumors...lol.
fishmike @ 6/24/2016 10:14 AM
this guy defends.

Ferrell signed with the Nets.
