Knicks · How about this deal (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 6/29/2016 5:41 PM
Ill take Greg Monroe and his 14mm $ contract this year that ends if they include Malclom Brogdon and the Bucks unrestricted 2017 pick. Gives me a big body for a year who can rebound pass and score--and when the team blows up--I have a pick and Brogdon.
Knixkik @ 6/29/2016 5:49 PM
Monroe was a solid option before we knew what we had in Porzingis. At this point, he is not what we need.
EwingsGlass @ 6/29/2016 5:49 PM
I haven't heard that Milwaukee is willing to pay to be rid of Monroe. I'd bet they can get something decent in return, no?
EnySpree @ 6/29/2016 5:51 PM
Monroe is a proven loser... plus he tried to play us when we tried to recruit him last summer

It will cost them--and that 15mm is a lottery pick + Brogdon. Id be interested at that price. Im petrified of paying Noah--its bad business --let some other scker do it. This team never learns.

SocraticBallin22 @ 6/29/2016 5:58 PM
Monroe has a low motor and terrible defensively. He is not what we need at C. Plus he chose Milwaukee over us last year. Pass.
BRIGGS @ 6/29/2016 6:02 PM
Opps sorry--he has 2 years left--nope not willing to do that. I thought it was 1 year. 2 years is 1 too many.
crzymdups @ 6/29/2016 6:03 PM
Monroe is terrible. I don't believe anyone who wants him has ever watched him play a game. Emptiest stats I've ever seen. Worst defensive big man I have ever seen and I have rooted for David Lee and Amare.
crzymdups @ 6/29/2016 6:06 PM
Also Briggs exaggeration in effect again. Monroe makes $17m this year and $18m next year. Because he wants him it's a one year $14m deal suddenly. Meanwhile Noah is 40 and has to play 120 games a year.

Still a fan and two of my favorite Knicks. That 0.02 second tip in from Lee was just so awesome. Lee was a hustle guy. Really athletic but just a step slow to keep up with guys. Everyone knew he sucked on D but he always boxed out and gave an honest effort in the face of knowing he was about to be scored on. And a lot hate Amare but I love him. Obviously his deal was a total bust and the extinguisher bullpoop thing in the playoffs was inexcusable but he came when nobody else would. He signed onto a what? 32 win team and he put them on his back, had a legit MVP first half, and totally put the Knicks back into something relevant. Winning record, a star playing great and crack and twist... his body failed him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him back playing 30 minutes a night as a stretch 4.. a Grant Hill rebirth. I wish him well. Not highest IQ guy around but he didn't just take the money. He took on the challenge full steam, he took the late 4th qtr shots... remember he led the NBA in 4th qtr scoring to start that first half? Injuries = what might have been, but yea... Monroe sucks. I would rather see Willy and Seraphin get used everynight than to see Monroe get touches. I thought he was ok (good scorer, rebounder). I was wrong. Hes wretched

My fault--I didnt see he had two years left--my bad. But I would rather take 1 year of Monroe with what I said than gamble big and long money on Noah.

GustavBahler @ 6/29/2016 7:21 PM
It would be almost worth signing him to be able make a thousand "Trade Monroe" threads like someone I know, lol.

I was sitting here reading these thinking and saying there's no way they signed Monroe to a two year deal...lol

Yeah you actually would of had my attention if it was only having to deal with Monroe for one year and getting Brogdon and a unprotected 2017 1st but he isn't worth the trouble of anything more than 1 year.

To my relief, Hornachek seems sincere when talking about the priority and need to be a even better D team than last year. Monroe does not fit what JH and Jax are looking for

I liked DLee and Amare both a lot. But they were so bad on defense that I forgot what good big man D looked like for a few years. Both guys played hard and gave it their all and I enjoyed rooting for them.

Yeah, I agree about Monroe - he doesn't seem engaged in any game I've ever seen him play. It is painful to watch.

Amare did not give it his all on defense at all

Yeah. He said top 10.
Hornacek has impressed me so far. He seems confident and comfortable in his role. I never got that feeling from Fisher. The Knicks job is a huge one to take on as a first time head coach. Glad Phil fixed his mistake.

35 mil for a lottery pick, 2nd round pick, and rotation player? I would do this but it would be part of a complete rebuild in which we trade all our veterans for whatever we can get. If the goal is to make the playoffs next year, there are better ways to use the money. I don't think that's a high price for that package though.
